I think folks are severely underestimating our upgrade at QB. Howard was scrappy and made the absolute best out of his opportunity but the fact is he doesn't see the field other than mop up duty if Grier is eligible and our WR's have proven time and time again that its plug and play there. The RB spot is loaded and a year better.

I do agree that the schedule is tougher this year, several teams should be better, possibly MUCH better but I think we will be better, possibly MUCH better as well. At the very least I don't think any drop off on our part will be THAT significant.

I don't get the Baylor projections at all, they lost playmakers , had some big misses in recruiting, breaking in a coach that has played a different style of offense so I assume they will be playing read option football with Art Briles players plus a lack of depth plus the investigation continues ...
To me that screams disaster of a year and an "easy" win for most of the Big12 schools but, maybe the "experts" know something else:noidea:.

Not sure what to expect from Texas, my gut says that they will be good/really good with what they return plus the Herman momentum but just don't know yet, very intriguing situation. By the time we play them if they aren't what I think they will be then I don't see any reason that we shouldn't be the favorite against them, depending on moral at that point it might not even be a game similar to their last trip to Morgantown. We have been fine vs the Horns since we joined the conference.

OU is breaking in a new coach with zero experience as a HC at any level, ever, and they lost a ton pf production as well so...Questions galore there that need to be answered and that's one is late in the year too so..

I think TCU could be a sleeper type of team, Patterson is proven and has a lot coming back so.. The concern for them is bona fide imo, same with KState.

I think ISU could be dangerous for a few Big12 teams, I think that coaching move offensively fits in the Big12 nicely and I think KU is at least pointing the ship in the right direction, not a threat just yet but they could sniff bowl eligibility before too long.

The Big12 could be the most entertaining conference this year imo , I don't think we have a clear cut favorite at this point.

I'm always guarded by nature. I won't buy into Will Grier until I see him producing for the old gold and blue.

IMO, the WR's have to step up big time. Shorts was the only reliable receiver the past two years. The others have had zero moxie on the field in the past. No fight for the ball... poor route running... unable to get off press coverage. Dana's passing game relies on a ton of timing. Balls are thrown to spots on the field and receivers are expected to get to that spot. For two straight years, this did not happen consistently. Will's numbers in the spring game were no better than anything Skyler put up in the same games.

The OL will need a ton of improvement in pass pro in order to allow a pocket passer like Grier have success.

WVU had trouble beating TCU at home last year. KSU is the potential sleeper for me. WVU tackles them on the road this year.

I think the Big 12 media have it about right. I'm thinking 7 wins... few lucky bounces... 8-9 wins. A few unlucky bounces... 5-6 wins.

Grier has not played football for 1 1/2 years. He has played a total of 6 games in his illustrious career. I believe too many WVU fans have fallen in love with his hype and have their expectations way too high.

I think Texas is 50/50...they have talent but are then built for Hermann's style..maybe not..I like Wv this year....ALOT!

His article is based on known, returning production. But we return 5 experienced WRs, and are stacked at RB still. OL is highly unknown. I see two experienced returners. We have a LOT of sophomores and freshmen. Hopefully Grier gets the ball out quickly.

On defense, the entire D line is replaced. 2 of 3 LBs return. And here's something fun. The article tells how only one starter is returning, but... Hold your horses, Dravon Henry is back from injury. A quick look at our secondary tells me we have 4 experience DBs returning.

I agree with BBW. 7 wins is my best guess. I really can't see anything less than 6 though. 8 or 9 wouldn't surprise me at all. I think this team (as most) will hinge on the O line. If they can give the QB time and RBs space, it will be a good year.

Tech lost most of its offense, Oklahoma, Baylor and Texas all have new coaches. TCU and Kansas State could both be good. OSU has a proven offense and should be very good this year. We get OSU at home. Iowa State and Kansas look to be doormats again. Texas Tech does not play defense.

This could be a down year for the B12. We have a lot of if's on this years team but if they come together and stay healthy, we could be 11-0.
