Are you talking about Danny Shelton, Shaq Thompson, Marcus Peters and Mr. Kikaha? That's not as stellar of a group as the group they lost in this draft. But, that's why they don't play the game on paper lol
Three of those guys went in the 1st round and the fourth guy was one of the first picked in the 2nd round. Washington has led the conference in defense in all three years that Petersen has been their HC.

Just because someone is drafted in the first round, doesn't mean they are a first round talent.

Actually, there were at least a couple of seasons where a loss to a PAC-12 school was what kept USC out of the NCG and "weak conference" was the reason given for the exclusion. USC had to go unbeaten to get to the NCG where other programs didn't. So, it's not revisionist at all.

Oh yes, poor USC, never gets a fair shake. :bullshit:

2002 11-2 finished ranked #4 (highest ranked 2 loss team in the country)
2003 12-1 finished ranked #1 and #2 (split title with 1 loss LSU)
2004 13-0 finished ranked #1 (got title over also undefeated Auburn)
2005 12-1 finished ranked #2 (Texas undefeated USC highest ranked 1 loss)
2006 11-2 finished ranked #4 (finished behind 2 loss LSU but ahead of other 1 loss power conference teams)
2007 11-2 finished ranked #2 and #3 (finished behind 2 loss LSU and Georgia in one poll and just LSU in another)
2008 12-1 finished ranked #2 and #3 (finished behind 1 loss Florida and undefeated Utah in one and 1 loss Florida in the other)

If you can't objectively look at the above and see you benefitted from a broken BCS system as much as you were hurt, I don't know what to tell you. I guess you think USC deserves to be 1st every single time? That there isn't ever a scenario where USC finished behind a school with the same amount of losses?

Looks to me like your beef should be with the SEC cock sucking that went on during that time period, but to be fair, they kept winning the fucking national title year after year and mopping up in bowl games.

A non-revisionist could look at that era and realize it started USC, Oklahoma, and Big 10 cock is great! Then went to USC, Oklahoma, Ohio St, Texas, and SEC cock is great! Yes, the SEC got complete conference dick riding, but Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio St, and USC got plenty benefit of the doubt and great coverage.

Interesting statistics but you are a bit apples and oranges. The quote you were quoting was for BCS selection, but your rankings are after the BCS bowl game. (For example a final #2/3 finish in 2008 was irrelevant when the BCS championship game participants were decided USC was #5 behind several other 1 loss teams Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and Alabama).

I'm contemplating starting a thread on the day Washington begins their season @ Rutgers. I'm going to title it: 'Washington's journey to the playoffs'.

I think the big question is: Does both a 12 - 1 USC and 13 - 0 Washington make the playoffs this year?

I don't see how you can complain about computer rankings biased against USC though. That's why I used voters. You are more than welcome to look up pre-bowl rankings though. You might have a point.

USC especially under Pete finished strong and had the best BCS winning percentage for a team with seven or more experiences so after the final rankings USC was usually moved up after their bowl game showing.

Agreed, but my original point I was arguing is that USC got just as much benefit of the doubt out of the old system as they were punished by it. For every season you could argue USC got the shaft post bowl, you could argue there were seasons they got the benefit pre-bowl. I just don't see USC as a victim. They were great under Carroll and were treated as such. That's all I'm saying.

Saying otherwise would imply that somehow USC is more deserving than other teams that also had great success during that era. The BCS era was an era of very little nationwide parody in my eyes. There were a handful of teams that were just consistently very good. Luckily, because of this, we got a playoff. Because almost every year there was very little consensus of who should have played in the BCS title game.

Or a 12-1 tOSU and a 13-0 Wisconsin?

Is Washington even going to be any good this year? I figured they blew their wad last season and would go back to mediocre for the next 20 years.

Just as weak of a schedule this year as last so there's that.

I would say on the surface some of that is fair, but look just a bit deeper.

If you agree that the teams not in the center of the spotlight didn't get the kind of exposure/coverage that other conferences middle teams got (for reasons already mentioned) then it stands to reason part of what USC was judged on was based off incomplete and often less than accurate portrayals of the teams USC had either close wins or actual losses against. There was a perception (more so then than now) that the overall conference was weak therefor USC's games that weren't total blowouts raised a bit more criticism. I'm not saying it killed them because clearly it didn't. Nor did it prevent them from reaching top bowls, but in tie situations all they had was their name and blue blood status because the thought that the Pac was weak always followed them. It didn't kill them, but it sure didn't help them either.

Well, you're wall of text, while impressive in it's wordiness, was a wasted effort because it had nothing to do with the post you quoted. The point of the post, which you clearly missed, was that the PAC-12 wasn't the weak conference it was perceived to be.

But hey, at least you got to get all of that off your chest. It's clearly been bothering you for quite some time.

Doubtful. But I'm pretty sure a 13-0 USC and 12-1 Washington would both get in.

13-0 Washington, and a 12-1 USC. I just wanted it to be accurate. :)
