i like the stat... of course it is nowhere near the first stat i look at... but it does help analyze what type of player he was... sure there are a million and one reasons that can explain why someone's +/- is too high or too low, but you should never be using it that way anyway... it is just whether he has a good +/- or a bad +/-, and that can help you see whether a player is good with and without the puck...
If a guy plays penalty kill and isn't on the power play, it's meaningless.

Then why DaFuq don't you people like it?

Who you calling "you people"? +/- is a team stat, if you play on a line with Gretzky you're +/- is gonna be good no matter what you do, if you play with a shit team with no real star players your +/- is gonna suffer, if the team your on has a shit goalie that can affect your +/- if you have a shit defense that can affect your +/-

is he?? sometimes we have to look at Quality over quantity... He only had 2 seasons of top 10 goals, only one of them was top 5... he had 2 seasons of top 10 in points, none were top 5... He deserves his HOF, but he in no way was an elite HOFer, and therefore how can he be under-rated??
By that measure one could also say Cuccarelli played at a high wuality. With a much lower quantity of elite team mates. As many I've the other greats had to work with.

I can respect your opinion but I'm of the school plus minus is a team stat. One of many variables I listed was system. Scott Stevens was one of if not the best defensive men to play the game. But when looking at his game I view his scoring ability. Which was vastly under rated. As well as the way he played the game. On the same token a lot of those Devils teams he played for. Did not have prolific offenses. With that said he does hold one of the highest plus minus ratios in NHL history. But how much of that had to do the combination of with playing with with arguably the best goalie to play the game. And the neutral zone trap system the Devils were playing that severely hampered opposing offenses? I just find it hard to utilize a team based stat. To gauge an individual player. But that's just my perspective

I never cared for it because it is a stat that relies heavily on team. As nos said a player on a team loaded with offense. Heavily inflates the stat. During the neutral zone trap years a lot of Devils plus minus stats were also inflated due to their system. You've also got other variables that effect plus minus that you can't fault an individual player for. Like if Darren Pang is in net

When did Scott Stevens play with Ken Dryden?

Dryden will always be one of my favorites.I always thought Barrasso deserved more attention then he gets tbh

Dryden doesn't have the GAA of a Hasek or BooDoor and had one of the best teams of all time, but he was still the best goalie of the period and top 3 of all time.

Was always a big fan of Dryden and Roy. My grandfather was a Habs fan. He was the only one in my family besides me that wasn't a rags fan. I was lucky to see Martys career. I know a lot of people disagree. But I never could put Hasek in their class
