This better be a one time thing. He is built as a franchise saver and that's what i will expect of him.

He's not supposed to be a franchise saver, so please don't expect that from him. He's a potential #1C down the line, but he's not McDavid. And probably not Auston Matthews either.

But he's a hell of a lot better than what they would've gotten at 13.

All true, but if he does end up being basically Ryan Getzlaf 2.0, he will essentially be saving our franchise. Everything else falls into place just right once we have that big, dominant center.

I'll take the over on all of those except Lindblom points, Flyers goals against and MacDonald games played.

Doesn't matter if he does turn out to be that good, we still need a stud goaltender.

Actually, I'm going to say 5th in the Metro too, not 4th. That is a difficult one. We could get 91-99 points and still be 5th. Fucking division is stacked.

I say we could surpass both New York teams though.

If he gets us to a deep playoff run in one of his first two season that will saving a middling franchise.

I put my money on Carter Hart for that. He's only just going to be turning 19 in August though. It may be a few years.

Well hopefully Elliot can prove to people he was a good goalie once. Maybe our defense comes together quickly. Anything, I just want a consistent compete level and more positive progress than we've had.

Consistent compete level is what we have been lacking for 7 or 8 years now. That is for sure what needs to happen

Yep I don't mind losing as long as I can see they gave it everything all the time, hope this new group starts a good gel right away, at least make other teams stand up and notice. I believe we are on the right road for sure. Just want to see it sooner than later lol.

More conversation starting!

Assuming Giroux, Voracek, Weal, Simmonds, Couturier, Konecny, Filpula (7) are locks; how do you rank the following guys in terms of making the team

bold = starting spot (5), italics = healthy scratch (1-2), normal = phantoms

I read an interesting article on him a few months ago where it discussed how he was a goal scorer in the AHL and would get brought up and did not adapt to playing on the 4th line. Not everyone can play with the talented guys but Weal looked good when playing in the top 6. I think he can play on the top line and score 20+.

I love his game, he is not afraid to score dirty goals in dirty areas despite his size. i hope he continues that type of play because everyone might want to give that little extra effort to get to pucks and put them in.
