Rumors still floating out there about a possible Anisimov for Galchenyuk swap.

Latest rumors have the Hawks talking with the Devils about Kovalchuk. Seems unlikely.

Hawks are definitely trying to move Hossa's contract. Not sure whether or not it's linked to another move.

Iginla and Campbell are apparently on the Hawks radar.

This is just nuts. How much more of the future are we going to block for one year deals for old dudes. Lets waste the second year of fortins 3 year deal now too so we dont have to pay him early if we can keep him.

Yeah, I know the nordstroms, bolligs, dahlbecks were not studs, but we just will watch another group grow tired of never getting their shot in chicago. It shocks me when I hear the big names want to sign here. Most take the Kevin Hayes route and say fuck them, I am not playing in the AHL for 2 years.

It may seem like the future is being pawned off.
But (1) the Hawks have shown that they have a keen eye for finding talent. So long as Stan Bowman and company are connected to the Hawks, I feel confident the Hawks will be competitive. And (2) having some seasoned vets wanting to come to Chicago is also a good thing. It means we have the luxury of picking the best of the litter. It sure is a far cry back from the day when we signed an over-the-hill Paul Coffey who flat out refused to play for us.

But we either see Saad or Panarin who make their mark and get to stay, or Motte, Nordstrom, Teuvo types who are deemed to not have what it takes to play for the hawks. Its not like Gustaffson got a shot to go down, work on shit and come back. The man scored on his first shot, got a handful of games and we never see what he had.

I know most arguments are, if he had it, he would have been kept on the roster, and they are not doing much outside of the organization, but really, you pop those balloons enough and they start playing scared, playing in a way that would have never gotten them drafted.

My money is on them resigning Campbell or Oduya after they formally place Hossa on LTIR on day 1.

I am sure we will be baffled by another betteran move. I think the soup is done, maybe Oduya getting healthy will be the better option. I dont think Soup had any injuries holding him back, he was just old.

Latest wild rumor has the Hawks talking with the NYR and Montreal about Anisimov, with returning assets from said trade being used at least in part to deal to Colorado for Duchesne.

I get what you're saying but they may see things in the locker room or on tape that we don't see.
Scouts look for leadership, accountability and teamwork to go along with hockey skills.
They may have seen enough of those qualities with these guys to know that there will be issues.
Next best thing is to trade them early (before these flaws become more manifest) while their value is decent.
Just spit-balling here.

Reminds me of the Cam Barker trade for Nick Leddy. Most everyone thought the Hawks were nuts for letting a solid D-man in Barker go for an unproven kid in Leddy.

I have enough confidence in the front office that the moves they make will somehow work out well for the Hawks.
:2cents:

Oh yeah, and I'm sad to see Soupy hang 'em up. Was one of my faves. But it was time.

Hawks should pursue Hobey Baker winner Will Butcher

Would make up for losing Kevin Hayes in the same way...

Yeah, but Hayes knew he was ready to play and was not going to get the ice time in Chicago. I was shocked they got big names to sign after Hayes went and started out in New York after more of our own draft picks and free agent signees were playing in rockford.
