Word. That's why you're the man on this stuff. SOS talk is cool but in just ready for the season to get here. Worried about the Wyoming game actually. Breaking in a new QB vs a team with a top 10 pick at QB is not a good feeling lol

They hung with Nebraska last year for about 3 quarters, but 6 turnovers did them, including 5 by that potential top 10 pick. My guess is he won't do that again, and with Iowa breaking in a new QB, it could be a game for 3 quarters or so, but I think Iowa pulls it out, by wearing Wyoming down in the trenches.

FWIW to the people following along in this thread, I think Colley Matrix does the best job of evaluating SOS.

The top 5 for hardest SOS's last year went in this order(taking into account Championship Weekend)

1. Ole Miss
2. LSU
3. Ohio State
4. Rutgers
5. Alabama

Just my :2cents:

LSU? Their non-conference is a complete joke.

I don't really fault the Indiana, Oregon State, Kansas type teams for scheduling not good OOC schedules

When you are trying to build a program it's good to get some confidence in your players by winning some games, even if it's against total scrubs.

Do you really expect these teams to go play 2 games against powerhouses OOC and get mopped across the field instead of scheduling games they can reasonably win?

The B1G teams for the most part have scheduled pretty well OOC this season(I'd say the exception would be Illinois(no P5 game), and Iowa(having to play ISU every year sucks, but it is what it is). But you get stuck with a schedule that has Purdue/Illinois and one of Maryland/Rutgers as a crossover opponent that's going to significantly hurt your SOS.

You follow college basketball pretty closely. The B1G schedules remind me a lot of Indiana's OOC basketball schedule last year. Played UNC, Kansas, Louisville(all top 10), but played a lot of terrible(RPI 250+ opponents) which killed their OOC SOS. When 5/12th's of a schedule is against the bottom third of college football it kills your overall SOS despite having three high end games(top 10)

With the B1G going to a 9 game conference schedule. I think 1 decent or great OOC game is acceptable and then 2 against whoever.

This was where teams finished at the end of 2016. They had Wisconsin, Southern Miss and Jacksonville St. Game against South Alabama was postponed.

Yeah, I'm fine with that as well. But if you're stuck with playing 3 out of the 4 bottom teams it's going to drag down the SOS. And just to note not that many teams are playing 3 of 4 games against Purdue/Illinois/Rutgers/Maryland.

We get Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska from the other side this year

Yeah Ohio State is one of the teams that is playing 3 of those 4 teams. That's why the SOS for Ohio State will be worse this year than it was last year when it was one of the toughest in the country. You're replacing Wisconsin with Illinois, which is obviously a huge downgrade. I think Nebraska will be slightly worse than last year, and Iowa this year may be slightly better than NW last year, so that's a wash. The OOC portion I would project to be slightly worse than last year as well.

Oregon's is even worse next season. but that is Texas A&M's fault. they pulled out of an 18, 19 deal

aTm chickened out against USC in 2015 and 2016. Then ran scared of Oregon in 2018 and 2019. They have a long way to go till they reach any level of respectability again.

At least there basketball team redeems them. Oh wait it took half way through the fourth year for them to surpass the football team in conference wins.
