That was a great write up, and pretty much sums up what we knew was taking place behind the curtain.
Petersen has brought more of the "family setting" to UW and I think that approach is so much better in College football

Nice. 24/7 listed their All-22 team as the freshman who will be immediate impact players for their teams.

Ty Jones (Washington): John Ross is headed to the NFL, and Jones is a capable fill-in as Jake Browning’s deep threat. Rated as the nation’s No. 83 overall player by 247Sports, Jones dominated during Army Bowl practices in January.

Sounds good to me. WOOF!!!

One of the areas I was looking for was the TE position since I felt that was UW's largest weakness. Looks like they addressed that very well.

Agreed!

It's been since the 90's since they a had TE that could change the outcome of a game....

Small class, no hype, but I believe will be the class that see's a title run at least twice!

There's a Juggernaut to the south that's going to have a lot to say about that title run potential and they are landing the very best talent in the country so they have something this team hasn't had a ton of since the 90's: Depth upon depth. You might like our starters v theirs, but we saw last year what injuries do. Would have loved to have seen Victor and Mathis in that game v Bama. Their RB almost certainly wouldn't have ran as actively through those two. SC will have the talent to overcome those inevitable injuries.

Until SC put's "it all together" I'm not buying into the hype! Yeah the came up here and beat the Dawgs, in SC fans eyes it was a beat down.. I don't think that. I think it was a miss managed game by the Dawgs.

Beating Penn St in the Rose Bowl, wasn't a blow out, as a matter of fact didn't SC have to come back in that game?

Wasn't talking about their game against UW, but how the rest of their season when after they changed QB's and how insane their recruiting class was. They have a lot going for them.

I agree, ( I didn't specify) but until they put it "all together" I'm not saying they are the best on the west, just yet. I want to see this coaching staff be able to handle the mindset of a 5* or even a 4*....

Wasn't intending to brandish them the best of anything, but they are an obstacle for reaching the playoffs. You take a team with that much talent and put them in the CCG against you and it's no easy out to move on.

UW athletic department expects a surprising surplus for 2017
Build it and they will come

UW goes from a projected $5-$7 million deficit for this fiscal year, to more or less even ($2k surplus but that's chump change). They did this despite the extra $5 million they had to pay Romar to go away and bring in a new HC on top of his contract payoff.

More butts in the seats is part of it, but the don james center dues that are paid every 5 years with a 2 year window to pay them. More paid in year 1 than they budgeted for. All signs of the program returning to where they belong.

Cougs are still showing a loss of more than $10m. And look to be continuing deficits for years to come.

UW projects a surplus for next year as the rest of the don james center dues are paid, and then show losses again after that. Of course continue to be a national spotlight team and those figures could fade away as well.

Petersen and Cohen getting shit done.

Sounds like Browning is good to go for this season and the shoulder is 100%. :suds:

--Quarterback Jake Browning attended the Manning Passing Academy last week at Nicholls State University in Louisiana, competing there against some of the top college quarterbacks in the country.

Petersen said Browning, limited during spring drills in April, is now 100 percent healthy after having shoulder surgery in January.

“He’s full go right now, without question, absolutely. No restrictions whatsoever,” Petersen said.

Browning said in April that his goal was to get bigger and stronger this offseason, and Petersen said the QB has added weight.

“He’s looking good. He’s one of those guys, when he walked in here a few years ago as a freshman, he kind of has broad shoulders anyway … so he’s kind of filling that out,” Petersen said. “He looks better and he looks sturdier and all those types of things”

Rob Scheidegger, UW’s head trainer, visited this offseason with the New Orleans Saints’ trainers who have treated star QB Drew Brees, who has had shoulder issues in the past. As a result, Scheidegger has altered some of Browning’s throwing routines.

“They’ve got Jake and our quarterbacks going through a different warmup procedure to pay attention to ‘pitch count,’ to help them warm up, to maybe not throw as many balls but strengthen our arm and be fresher,” Petersen said. “So he’s on that program right now, and we’re excited about it.”
