How So? The fight isn't in MMA format. Everyone knows Conor would destroy Floyd in any fight outside of a boxing ring.
To the majority of the world, MMA is still trying to become respected.

As with all pre-fight chatter, this event will be talked up as the best in the MMA facing the best in Boxing (regardless if you agree). It was the same with James Toney vs Randy Couture, except the audience was minuscule in comparison.

And now the audience will be much bigger than any other MMA event with an entirely different fanbase.

The UFC needs this to be a good show for MMA to gain respect. If McGregor wins, then the sport will gain a lot of new fans. But instead, it will probably appear that the UFC has inferior athletes.

I think we're all in agreement that McGregor would probably fuck Floyd up in a street fight. He won't beat Floyd in the boxing ring or on the judges scorecards.

LOL. Yes.

Floyd will be confused by seeing someone who can swing from any position. Learn what a striker is and then you'll have a better understanding.

McGregor could at anytime kill Mayweather.

Lol. Bookmarked this post right here. I know what I Striker is, dude. I also know Boxing is a totally different realm than MMA. Conor has no chance.

Thing is, athleticism has nothing to do with it. Boxing is a skill that takes years to hone and must be specifically focused on for one to become elite. MMA incorporates aspects of boxing, but is so multifaceted that a professional MMA fighter can't commit the hours of training in boxing alone required to box on the level of someone like Mayweather. Conor may very well be a better athlete than Mayweather, but winning or losing this fight has nothing to do with that.

Anyone who disagrees is stupid. Boxing in the ring is a sport. MMA is as close to a street fight as it gets.

I agree. I also think Mayweather is too small, too slow, and too old.

People that know me know, I was boxer.

Mayweather wants a huge last payday. He'll get it and retire.

Maybe to the exteeeeemely casual fan. I think most people recognize that this is just a money grab for Conor. It may prove that MMA has the inferior boxers to boxing, which most MMA fans will concede anyway. I don't think this will affect the UFC in any form or fashion unless Conor drops his ass.

Mayweather has more than enough experience and veteran skills to keep Conor at arms length. Conor may not land a punch, honestly. He hasn't boxed competitively in years. If Conor gets knocked out it will be because he got frustrated and bull rushed Mayweather and got countered.

Exactly. It's kind of a win-win for MMA and a lose-lose for boxing in those terms. Mayweather is doing this because he is getting PAID. That's it.

It takes about 5 days to train for 1 round in boxing. Mayweather is old. He may not be able to train as long as he used to.

Mayweather is going to get rocked early and often.

He won't be able to keep the younger, bigger and motivated Conner at arms length for very long.

I can't stand Mayweather but this will be a walk in the park for. Easy win. 120-108 on all judges scorecard.

I don't think these Mcgregor fan boys realize how great Floyd defense is

Floyd will win easily. Conor isn't even the best boxer at their weight. I think a Frankie Edgar type would have a better chance, but even he wouldn't hit Floyd much.

well the score cant be. no title on the line, so it wont be a 12 round fight.
