No real way to sugarcoat this. Just kicked one of the better GM's in football to the curb for as of yet murky reasons. Ballard leaving for the Colts just makes this stranger (dumber?) the more I think about it. Veach is probably the top candidate given he almost left for the Bills I suppose. Or Scott McCloughan maybe? Not really sure where you go from here. If Andy Reid has absolute (or close) power short of the owner like this looks like, I can't say I am comfortable with this arrangement any longer as a fan.

My patience is going to be real short if the drafting drops off in the next few years because of some pettiness internally.

This is my shock face. As I have implied already in the thread- Reid just raised the bar on himself. If the new GM's performance has a big drop-off, there's going to be a lot of criticism.

Reid appears to be out of control at this point. Veach is supposed to be well regarded in NFL circles but this stinks to high heavens. Perhaps this is why he didn't take the Bills job?

Sounds to me, if this is correct up to this point minus Petro (figures) Reid is butthurt about Maclin and the contracts that were handed out a year later than ideal to elite players in Houston and Berry? Come on, seriously? Please tell me that's not what the actual reason for this is.
This also suggests Ballard may indeed have been a possibility here.

Well at least there's comic relief to the Chiefs' potential new GM!
So I guess this is his Chiefs draft record in stone; with the last 3 being displayed. IIRC he was in the top 10 of draft AV during his tenure. (Oakland and Denver were in the 20's if I got that right)
