2 undrafted free agents from Duke. That should about take care of our quota for this decade
:suds:

There's no excuse why Jeremy Cash was't drafted. That kid is a football player. Deaver was hurt his senior year and given a medical redshirt extra season at TE. Cash is an All-American though. Duke had TEN undrafted free agents sign with NFL teams.

I think Cash will start before the year is over. Wasn't he ACC DPOY?

Thoughts on McCaffrey, @douggie

I like McCaffrey. He was a solid player for the Cardinal and will make a very good NFL player. But if he is to be utilized to his full worth then Cam will need to work on his dump off short passes out of the backfield where McCaffrey can out run LB's trying to cover the flat.

I like these picks. Obviously Gman and RR looked at the O, realize they needed some speed out there. McCaffrey ran a 4.48, Samuel had the 2nd fastest 40 in the WR group. Like I said earlier, KBenj and Funchess aren't getting separation, we need some production in space. They're actually similar players, and Samuel has lined up in the backfield, too.

Just drafted Taylor Moton, OT out of WVU. Potential for good value, there. Didn't realize Remmers had signed with the Vikes, may have been necessary.

What I liked about the draft is that it seems we now have some pass catchers that can get separation. Except for Olsen when he has a LB on him, that has not been the case.

I'm hoping Boulware sticks. Loved watching him play at Clemson

Five foot nine and he was an all-pro LB. If that aint heart, I dont know what heart is.

He was undrafted in 1981 from Montclair State University in New Jersey, where he was a walk on. He still holds their all-time career tackles record at 501, tackles in a season at 142, and tackles in a game at 22.

Damn, just saw the news that Gettleman got fired. This looks suspect. The players might not always like it, but you have to make tough decisions to make it work over the long haul.

I'm fine with Hurney on an interim basis.

It is curious about Gettleman though. My guess is refused to extend the contracts of Davis and Olsen. Probably most GMs would be in that boat, but Richardson wants these guys on his team as prototypical examples as to what being a Panther is. I can understand that to. It won't cost a fortune and they are still playing at a high level.

I think TD is the most contentious one. Of course, I love watching the guy play, he's an asset as a human as well. But he is 34 years old, with a history of injuries. I think DG was going to let him play this final year and then make a decision (which is exactly what Belicik would do). You're right, though. That's one of things that got him canned.

I also read that JR signed off on the decision to let Joshie Josh go, but wasn't happy with the way it turned out (which is understandable). You're right, it's his team, can do what he wants. I just think it's a bad sign when you fire a guy for making a tough-but-best-for-the-long-run decision. I hope it doesn't turn out like 2010/2011 when they handed out all the cap-crippling big contracts.
