Wow, that was interesting stuff from Kruk. I didn't realize Gwynn was hitting .394 that year those dumbasses went on strike.

Yes, I'd heard that before. Also, I think Matt Williams was on pace to break the home run record (I don't know if that's Maris' or Bonds' eventual one since Bonds set the record in 2001).

What year did Sosa and McGwire go at it? 1998 I think?

It was still Maris's record back then. But now that I see that, maybe the MLB players main purpose for striking that time was to give all the players time to catch up on the 'roiding.

BTW, when I did the Fab Five Freddy reference I was going to put in the Blondie video but I watched it and couldn't bring myself to do it. Is it just me, or is Blondie completely devoid of any rhythm? I don't claim to be an expert on the subject but she just looks really clumsy.

Yeah, I'll level with you- no clue what the hell you're talking about.

Have you seen any of the last season of Bloodline yet?

I have not yet. To be honest I thought the first one pretty much nailed everything down. Are you talking about season 2 or season 3? Do they go back in time or something?

No, I know, I was wondering whether (in retrospect) he was on pace to break Maris' record, which would have been the record at the time, or Bonds' eventual record. I heard that claim like 5 years ago

43 in 112 games. No way he would have gotten to Bonds but I guess he had a shot at Maris. It's amazing some of the guys like Bonds and Williams could hit so many HRs in Candlestick. I didn't think it was that great of a hitters park. Kevin Mitchell had 50 with the Giants too. Mays and McCovey, Darrell Evans also. Maybe it was a good park and I am thinking of the new one...

No, you finished S2. It ended with Kevin hitting the cop, Diaz, over the head. This season will wrap that up. I'm starting it tonight.

However, if you want another great drama, The Leftovers on HBO is just now wrapping up its third and final season. I'm on S2, and gave S1 a rating of 4/5 stars. The second season is great thus far. It only has 28 episodes to the series, so it's relatively short.

It's about 2% of the Earth's population disappearing. Given this premise, it sounds like a sci-fi, which couldn't be any further from the truth. The show depicts how the people deal with everyone having left. No explanation is ever given (at least thus far) into why the people disappeared; it'a not even discussed. I would recommend it.

Do the Phillies have any idea how bad Edinson Volquez is? What a freaking joke

I'm pretty sure Oduebl and Maikel are doing their best "Shoeless Joe" impersonations- in on the take.

Sadly, I think everyone sells out for the big buck- even Paul McCartney

On a side note, as a hip-hop fan, I can say that Kanye West was actually pretty damn good as a rapper back in the mid-2000's, and was legendary as a hip-hop producer in the late-90s/early 2000's. Point in case regarding rap, this song. I don't think he could make a song this soulful and vulnerable today (not that I'm not knocking his new style. I don't particularly care for it or listen to him a lot anymore, but people are obviously allowed to grow and change as artists, just like regular people are. Plus his last two albums were critically acclaimed, so it's not like everyone thinks he's trash)
