Kyrie now owns the 2 highest scoring games for a lebron james teammate in a playoff game. He is suredly becoming the best player LeBron ever played with---- esp. since Wade was only Dwade for like- what? a season and a half- maybe 2 seasons?- while playing with LeBron.

"He was born to play one-on-one," James said of Irving. "That's what he do. I think what he's improving more upon is the feel of the game and taking his time and scoring and possessions and things of that nature and growing as a point guard and growing as a leader. But the kid was born to play one-on-one. You have those great one-on-one players in our league history and he's up there."

"When you give him room and give him space, he can get to anywhere he wants to get on the floor, and we know that," Lue said of Irving. "And what I think is probably the best on-ball defender in the league is Avery Bradley, and to take that challenge and to score a few baskets like that against Avery just shows you how good and special Kyrie is with the basketball because not too many guys are getting around Avery. We've seen that for the last four or five, six years. That just shows you how special he is offensively."

and i agree with Lue- i think Bradley is one of the toughest- if not THE toughest matchup for Kyrie in the entire league.

LeBron James is sick, but of course is playing in Game 5 against Boston

this is kinda a bummer......hope they finish it off tonight regardless

James spoke with obvious nasal congestion at shootaround this morning, ahead of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals in Boston. A win would send the Cavs to the Finals for the third straight season and would mark James' seventh consecutive Finals berth.

As you may recall, James didn't play his best game Sunday in Game 3 (actually, he was historically bad for him, scoring just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting in a 111-108 loss).

After Game 4 -- a much better game for James, as he scored 15 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter of a 112-99 win -- teammate Richard Jefferson suggested James was under the weather the previous game.

"I know he won't talk about it, so I'll give my big guy a shout," Jefferson said on Fox Sports Ohio. "Deron Williams missed shootaround this morning, because he had like a little bug--just really lethargic, had no energy--and I think that's what 'Bron had."

For what it's worth, James sounds worse today than he has all week. According to NBA.com, James' average speed in Game 3 was 3.63 miles per hour -- the second slowest he has moved on the court this entire postseason. In Game 4 he moved at 3.75 miles per hour, though he played the entire second half with four fouls.

im just glad it was sickness- an not some kind of nagging injury that slowed him down the other night.

Maybe he can find some 1 on 1 tourneys this summer?
As far as the NBA, his record without James speaks for itself.

Yet he stayed in the game the last couple just minutes to build stats.
Nobody wants to hear it.
Just say you had a bad game.
Fuck the excuses.
They aren't needed.

Doesnt really matter. Pippen wasnt shit without MJ. A great defender but playing with MJ made him basically the best perimeter defender of all-time. Pip wasnt half the player Kyrie was on offense but defensively an all-time great

What doesnt matter?
James can win without Kyrie as we've seen, but Kyrie isnt shit without LeBron.
If you want to be called an all time NBA great, that can't be the case.
Like I said, put him in a 1-1 tourney and he can earn his stripes.

Whaaa? Pippen was a GREAT player even without Jordan. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you b/c of the double negative.

In 93-94, without Jordan, the Pippen-led Bulls won 55 games.
Pippen was 8th in scoring (22), 23rd in rebounding (8.7), 19th in assists (5.6) and second in steals (2.93).
3rd in MVP voting (Olajuwon, D.Robinson)
1st in All-NBA First Team votes
1st in All-Defensive First Team votes

And in unfailing Lebron style, gives himself credit for it, as well...

"I'm just happy and blessed that when I decided to come back that I was able to help him blossom"
he definitely has helped him- shown him what it takes to be a leader etc....

Kyrie had shitty coaching, mostly young teammates with no experience.....and a ton on his hsoulders-- and the pressure of being the franchises #1 pick and savior after lebron. LeBron came to Cleveland when Kyrie was only 22 years old.

Now Kyrie has learned from some great vets, has had LeBron to learn from, has had tons of playoff experience, finals experience- hitting one of the biggest shots in the history of the league.

its night and day different than what it was 3 years ago when he was a 21 year old kid with enormous expectations and very little help- and bad coaching.

Kyrie- at some point- is gonna get his opportunity---- its clear he has far eclipsed the player he used to be. Its fun to watch a guy like hi mcontinue to get better and better- both on the court skill wise- and as a leader.

you wont see Kyrie REFUSE to play- and sit on the bench- just because he doesnt get the last shot like Pippen.

humiliating.

Pippen got his team within a **** hair of the Finals before he sat himself out of the last play. The only time we've seen Kyrie on his own the Cavs were winning a lot in June .......during the lotto.
