Not true at all.McSorley should be 1st team hands downs. What a joke.
Not true at all.
Because you can't just base things off last year's performance. Clearly they saw how big a detriment Tim Beck was and how immense of an upgrade Kevin Wilson is. Besides, their numbers weren't so far off:Sure it is. I don't see how there's any justification for Barrett based off of last year's performances.

McSorely: 3,979 total yards, 36 total TDs
Barrett: 3,400 total yards, 33 total TDs
That was a monster year for McSorely and a major disappointment for Barrett. The last time Barrett had a decent OC, he broke the B1G record for total TDs in a season, and that was when he was a RS freshman thrust into the starting role in late August. There's no reason he can't best those marks this year, and the experts see that.
The experts know one season doesn't make a career. I see you continued to discount the Tim Beck effect and the fact that Kevin Wilson has a long track record of churning out elite offenses with monster QB play. I guess that's why the experts get paid to come up with these lists and the detractors, like yourself, complain. They simply know more. Barrett is first team because his season last year wasn't much worse than McSorely, and he was severely hindered by his OC. His play on the field has earned him his spot. Just is what it is.McSorley was clearly better last year. More total yards, TD's, TD to Int ratio, QB rating, Adj QBR etc...Yes, Barrett had a monster Freshman year, but he's been pretty average the last 2 seasons. I understand why Barrett is 1st team, because of his reputation, but that still doesn't make it any less of a joke.

No, it was the OC. It's pretty widely known around the program that he was inept. He was entirely incapable of adjusting his gameplan, which we saw the final two games of the year. There was special talent on that team last year, and it's horrible that he had no idea how to use it. Noah Brown is a talented player but Beck had no idea how to develop him. McCall and Victor should've been used exponentially more than they were but Beck notoriously didn't like playing freshman. There's a reason why Parris Campbell is being widely considered a first round pick in 2018 - scouts know his talent and expect him to break out now that Beck is gone.It is fine to think it was the OC's fault, but the reason for the decline is OSU didn't have the skill position talent that Barrett had in year's past.
The entire offense was Curtis Samuel with a handful of carries for Weber and Barrett. What made Barrett so good prior to that was OSU had multiple guys who could hurt a defense. Those guys weren't there anymore and the replacements weren't nearly as good. It is why OSU relied on Curtis Samuel for almost everything.

He averaged like 120 yards per carry. He got like 9 rushes.A handful of carries for Weber? Bullshit. He ran for 1,096 yards last season. Do you ever get tired of being wrong?
I'll take OSU's weapons any day. Barkley is the best offensive player in the B1G, I definitely won't argue that. Otherwise, I'm taking the absurd amount of studs OSU has. Barrett is the biggest playmaker at QB in the B1G. He's a constant threat with the ball in his hands, and with a capable playcaller has shown to be an elite passer. Look at what Wilson did at Indiana with a bunch of no-names. Now he has elite 4/5* kids in an already explosive offense. Barrett will have the better season out of the two QBs, and the scary thing is, he's not even the most talented true QB on the OSU roster. Its funny because they are basing him being first team solely on his one great year as opposed to his average next two seasons. I'm not discrediting what Wilson will bring, I think he'll be an upgrade. But they clearly went with someone who performed worse last year. But like I said, I get it. Barrett has a better/larger reputation and plays at Ohio State so he'll get the benefit of the doubt.
Also, what Joe Moorhead did at OC in his first year at PSU was pretty remarkable. Don't assume McSorley can't improve upon his numbers and play from last year. Plus he's probably got the best weapons in the B1G to work with.

It's terrifying how good we were last year with such lousy coaching from Beck. Unless Wilson completely forgets how to coach altogether, there's no reason OSU shouldn't reach the playoff undefeated.
