It cracks me up to read DAD's bullshit! He hates Dana... hates Mazey... yet applauds the fact Shane has let both of these mediocre coaches keep earning a paycheck.
Does Poppy math apply here? If Poppy supports Hands in Pants and Hands in Pants supports Dana by giving him a new contract, then Poppy supports Dana. I'm so glad that that No Balls held Dana's feet to the fire and made him a good coach last year. Just look at last years record. That's all it took. An AD who gets results. I guess taking no action is the best action if you can't keep up with the action.

Significant Coliseum Complex Renovations to Begin - WVU Athletics

“What we’re trying to do as an institution is to build facilities around campus to make West Virginia University appealing to potential students everywhere,” Lyons said. “It’s the whole big picture of ‘how do you recruit great students and great professors to continue to transform West Virginia University into a world-class institution?’

“Well, it’s no different than what we’re trying to do in athletics with the improvements we are making to our facilities,” he concluded.

How can Poppy support an AD who is continuing Luck's program by agreeing to spend all of this money on athletic facilities? I know Luck started it, but couldn't he stop it?

If I were him...and saw the program was running in the black by the tune of 4.2 million dollars why not add sports programs? Lacrosse, Mens and Women's Hockey, Out Door Track and Field, Women's Softball..or whatever..

That could be his legacy...expanding Wv footprint in College Athletics...

Whaaaat? Spend more money on sporting programs that may attract more students to the campus? We aren't a Track and Field program. Just like baseball, it will never work. Lacrosse? You mean that sport that is picking up momentum in high schools? You must be crazy!

The money won't be there forever. DAD told me the Big 12 is doomed. WVU will be shit out of luck... pun intended... once OU and UT bolt for greener pastures.

You don't want to expand the program when the death of athletics at WVU is near...

That would be great, regardless of what the two "fans" say, that would be a great use of resources.

I am confident that when the B12 dies in a few years, Lyons will secure us a home in the ACC playing our real rivals, in a conference where we geographically belong.

You can't make up your mind. Bitched when Luck spent money but relishes in the thought that Lyons should expand the sports program.

There is absolutely no way anyone is getting WVU into the ACC...

That will NEVER happen...

When the contracts come up for bid the landscape will have changed...how games are consumed by you and I will look a lot different...if I read the tea leaves correctly these conferences with their own networks are ahead of the curve...If the Big12 is smart they get their own network up and running...but then there is TEXAS..the team that will at the end of the day single handedly implode the conference....

Any conference tied in to ESPN for their network, is probably in need of some major help. None of the ESPN conference networks are making money.

If the Big 12 is projecting to the future, it should make sure it has a digital network ready for streaming on every platform available.

EXACTLY!!........or a medium that hasn't even possibly been developed yet...technology is moving at such a rapid pace who knows exactly what it will look like and how all the conferences survive in their current state...will television markets really matter in 2025?..are schools like Purdue, Kansas, NC State or Iowa State and the like totally exposed as no value...who knows

My uneducated guess is that it could look a lot like the Music business these days...the only way to make money is live events...almost like the schools will be right back where they started.....or pretty close to it!..so building the ultimate game day experience will be big time important..

ESPN could be out of business by then...or a shell of what they are today...its already started with the network firing 200 plus employees...

I think TV will always have a market but also believe that a major broadcast outlet, like ESPN will not corner the market and minipulate the college sports landscape. The SEC is still the standard and the model for a conference Alliance. The conference makes the decisions, not 1or 2 schools.

I believe that around 2020, the landscape may show signs of what direction Conferences are heading. The Big 10 GOR expires a year or so before the Big 12. The ACC has renewed through 2036, but will be on a special platform coming out in 2019. IMG College appears to be making moves for some of the broadcast rights. I found this interesting about the PAC-12, with many projecting Texas or OU or both heading there. I wonder what the PAC 12 has in place to prevent others from leaving. This and a chart is from a 2 year old article -

"While the SEC Network will generate more than $5 million in new revenue for each school in the channel’s first year, and the Big Ten Network is paying out close to $7 million per school annually, the Pac-12 Networks is paying out just under $1 million annually per school. And, industry experts say, the prospects of falling further behind the SEC and Big Ten financially have the Pac-12 intent on finding new sources of revenue."
