Barnidge...I'm probably higher on him than most, but his skill set suggests to me that with a QB like Ben and getting 80-90 targets a season, he's a weapon maybe right underneath Green's capability.

I do think with MB back, he's going to get 3 to 4 deep balls a game in addition to another 3 to 4 targets, and the way I think they're going to use Juju inside the hash marks, it will reduce the need for Green, but I guess part of me just wants to move on from Green altogether now given that he's still not really cleared. If the doctors still have concerns about him 5 mos later and it appears that they are, isn't it really in his best interest to give up football.

I know the money is large, but he seems to be walking the tight rope without a net under him.

Green could of made a difference in our Offense for sure, But it just seems his shelf life is long overdue.
Not by any fault of his own, but damn, to be out this long for yet another concussion is not good at all.

Wait, is Green really still not cleared? I don't quite recall the last tidbits that I read on him this offseason. I remember a few months ago something about him getting cleared, or maybe it was "close to getting cleared". But if he's still not then why the hell is he hesitating? He should retire before he winds up a vegetable. Apologies if that offends, but damn. That's not something he should be risking.

What little info I've found on Green's status, I don't think he's cleared, but that could be wrong.

Veggie...not at all. At some point he has to realize his career has been cut short I think. Aikman, Steve Young, (notables among many) were force out earlier than they wanted. Get out while you can still function.

No it's not and that's why I've changed my tune on him.

At the end of the day...he could be Heath 2.0 but if he can't play, he's of no good use to the Steelers...release the guy, pay the dead money hit and move on.

I agree. He showed that he could be great BUT he just can't stay on the field long enough to find out for sure. Why can't they sign Barnidge and put Green on the PUP until they find out if he'll ever play again???

And the sad part is if the F/O would of came to this conclusion last year, they wouldn't take a cap hit on him.

Again, it sucks for him because it was not of his doing, but we waited how long to see what he could do only for that to go away in a hurry with yet another head shot. And beings he's a TE he is going to take those big shots over the middle, it's inevitable.

The Steelers have just under $9.26mil in available cap space. And that number INCLUDES both Bell's tag value & projected draft pool. So if they can sign Bell long term, they'll have somehwere north of $15mil in cap space. That number is based off projections though. There could be extra space they can save by cutting certain players (Moats, Warren, handful of WRs). There's no reason why they couldn't chase a FA right now. They will have Tuitt's contract to consider amongst other lessers for next offseason though, unless something is in the works now.

2018 UFA's (ordered by my opinion of importance:
Bell (pending current contract negotiations)
Tuitt
Cockrell
Hubbard
Bryant
Moats
D. Johnson
S. Johnson
K. Davis
McCullers

Good work per norm Face!

BUF is courting Barnidge, I think I read he's visiting them.

Typical Steelers FO MO, even if they have the money, they're probably going to stay the course. If Green retires maybe they would look at a FA to fill that spot then.

Farting around with a 53 man projection...I have a feeling Keion Adams is going to have Moat's spot this season if he shows any kind of ST skills.

Thanks for the link...Interesting read...according to this, one would think Green is good to go and will be a full participant in OTAs and camp in Aug.

That may well be, but the minute the pads go on Green will be wearing a red jersey, or whatever the QBs wear.

God could we get a full season with this offense in tact please? Ben, Bell, Brown, Bryant, Green and a healthy OL?

Dear lord... You mean to tell me we already had 2 LS's under contract prior to drafting one?
