Yeah, poor turnout today. I hung out in the campground for the first half of the race and couldn't believe how many empty seats there were considering how great the weather was.

Myself, I would go to all the short track races, that's where the action is.

Honestly, it's felt like the road courses have been better than the short tracks for action the past few years.

While hearing about empty seats at Martinsville isn't surprising, I am pretty shocked hearing that it was that many. Even when I was going to Martinsville regularly over five years ago, they usually had at least 2/3 of the stands full (this was after they took out a lot of those backstretch seats).

Nobody has any money after the last 12 years of a shit economy especially in the West Virginia area. That place has be decimated by the left's ridiculous attack on the coal industry. Who would spend their hard-earned bucks to go to the track and watch this corporate-saturated bullshit?

Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chase Elliott, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Larson, Chris Buescher and Erik Jones will start at the rear of the field Sunday after their cars failed to pass tech prior to the end of the first round of qualifying Friday at Texas.

Maybe some of these teams are yearning for the good old days where competition was the motivating factor to NASCAR instead of this corporate-saturated, rule-driven nonsense.

They've got a computerized inspection now from a partnership with Microsoft. A machine reads certain points on the car and if it doesn't line up, you fail. That's why you see so many failing this year.Coincidentally, teams are also just showing up illegal every time because so far, NASCAR is just letting them race regardless because of the way the new TV deal is structured. If the charter teams don't make the race, the TV partners don't have to pay as much. So teams are just showing up illegal to qualify, knowing they will fail, but will take the penalty of starting in the back because they'll still have the advantage of an illegal (downforce related) car. Even a points penalty post race isn't that big a deal because with the Chase nonsense, all they have to do is win and they are in because NASCAR has yet to take away a win. So if I'm a team, if I show up illegal and win the race, my work is done. The penalties don't matter. I'm in and can focus on gathering data to use for the "playoff races". They've gamed the system.

This situation with cars not getting through inspection to qualify is getting ridiculous. At the rate they're going Jeffrey Earnhardt will win a pole this season as the only car to make it through inspection in time to get a lap in.

Charlotte fall race moved from Saturday night to Sunday day.

Martinsville fall race pushed back to start at 3PM, which means the race will definitely finish under the lights, as the sun is projected to set at 5:56PM on October 29, and the last 5 races at Martinsville have averaged a length of 3 hours and 35 minutes, which would put the race finishing at 6:35PM.

I like that. I feel like if you have 2 races during the year. One should be in the day and other in the night.

Kinda mad they stopped having night races at Phoenix

Only thing I can think of is that it was just too outside of the "tolerance" zone to where Nascar had to do something.
