Also, Pastner left Memphis and just won ACC coach of the year if I'm not mistaken.

Which shows how good the ACC is this year. Coach of year was an 11 seed and got knocked out in 1st rd.

Seems like a good time to bump this since things aren't going exactly as planned at either school right now. Especially Memphis:

Pitt has had a ton of transfers as well. Both programs look like a mess.

Pitt is in some serious trouble. They only return 4 scholarship players for next season, and those guys combined to average 9.3 ppg this past season. I don't see anyway they don't finish last in the conference. I think this is the year Boston College could make a jump up in the standings, and by jump I mean like 11th or 12th.

BC lost AJ Turner to transfer. Who would you have BC ahead?

I think Pitt for sure. I think NC State will be bad again. And I think Ga Tech will take a step back next year. I think they over achieved all season and will digress back to the norm. BC's ceiling is probably 12th would be my guess.

Yeah, people are under-rating the loss of Quinton Stephens for Tech. They couldn't score the ball last year, so losing a 10+ PPG scorer isn't ideal. Will be interesting to see how good their freshmen will be.

Really tough to get a read on the Keatts hire for State.

Yeah, both schools used to have decent basketball programs, will be interesting to see if they reclaim some of that past glory.

Dana Kirk was running the show when I was last there so it's been a while, but I can speak on the Memphis program a little from what I hear from family.

For a small city, Memphis is and has long been a hotbed for basketball talent. In a nutshell, local recruiting is not what it was. When Calipari took over, he still took a few Memphis kids, but he took the recruiting to a national level and didn't recruit the local kids as hard as Finch and Kirk did. So the local talent started going elsewhere.

When Calipari left, so did the national recruiting and the local kids were still going elsewhere.

Tubby imo is too old and not the right guy to get the local kids back. They should hire Penny Hardaway as the HC.

This

Dixon is a great coach and will do fine at TCU. Stallings is a step down but Pitt will be alright.

Memphis might be in trouble though. Pastern was a players coach and could get talent. Tubby isn't either but he is better at x/o's than anyone we are talking about. I don't think he will pull in the talent to execute what he wants to do though.

With Pitt, Jamie Dixon going to his alma mater didn't help. Even though he made terrible in game adjustments.
