I can say unequivocally that Google and Amazon are the two worst companies in the world. Both are a massive invasion of privacy. Even on Linux I find it amazing how much they want to infiltrate a computer...with or without your permission. I don't know how Amazon did it but they can put stuff on a Windows PC bypassing the UAC...both companies should be brought before the courts to explain what gives them the right to do so.

I really pity anyone who uses Google or Amazon services...strange thing is on my phone I can shut down some of their services but I can't uninstall them. Hell, not even Microsoft is that obnoxious.

What phone did you use before ? Then you skipped to computers. What exactly did Amazon put on your computer? Google....oh yeah their out of control. I take it you don't use their email service, who do you use for email?

Amazon put some kind of network device on my PC to access their Kindle site (which disappeared as soon as I disabled the Kindle service on the phone)...and no I don't use Gmail, I use my ISP provided email. I used a regular phone...and email. It wasn't worth the price to me for smart phones but after mother died all I did was answer robo calls for her...so...

I'm still trying to figure out what the phone did to my Samba network on my Ubuntu machines. It was working fine until I plugged the phone in. I can see and access the Ubuntu machines just fine from Windows but not the other way around. Tells me there are no network computers. Hell the Ubuntu desktop can't even find the Ubuntu laptop. Used to be it was Windows that would cause me to reset the Linux machines.

Not a big fan of phones of any kind. Seems like they are there just so folks can bug you. You trust your ISP? I don't. No getting away from intrusion, unless you just disconnect entirely.

Eh, something just popped up wanting my sudo password and I said not only no but hell no...I think that was a google intrusion probably. And yes I do trust my ISP more than Google and Microshit....
I don't trust any of them.

I was looking at my router stats earlier and over the router my phone has closer to 100 MB of usage...mostly playing songs on my OneDrive...it's also where I discovered what my phone was doing with Googlebarge and Amazinot...

i get 2 GBs a month, like what the hell can i do with that? go to the movies…by myself.
Hell, there are months the only time I use 5 Gig is on Windows/Linux updates. My ISP gives me almost 1 terabyte per month. Hell, I never even get close to that. I think my brother does more with YouTube and Facebook than I do with 1 windows machine and 3 linux machines just doing updates and the occasional software downlad.

Guess tomorrow I'll try to figure out what happened on the Linux side of my network. Weird that it worked both ways even after the latest Windows 10 update but as soon as I plugged my phone into one Ubuntu machine none of them can find the Windows machine or the other Ubuntu machines. Maybe uninstalling Samba might help...because the smb.conf didn't change and the shares are still listed as valid (makes sense seeing how I can access them from Windows). Just strange that the Windows network is listed as empty on all my Linux machines.
