For a short feud (which I assume this is), having Jinder win is a good call. It keeps things fresh and saves a bigger match up for down the road
I get the logic but there were so many better options for a throw away match. They could have Sami Zayn get close to winning the title and make that part of a long-term story. Luke Harper and Orton have history and Harper can get a good match out of him. If they wanted an absolute left field contender I'd interested in one of American Alpha getting a PPV title shot.

They're probably pushing Jinder to the upper midcard. He got the first shot at the title on the new SD. They gave him a ton of publicity with the Gronk angle. He's jacked. He's from an important international market for the WWE so they have an incentive to at least make him a part of the midcard.

I like a lot of old school rasslin throwbacks but I'm not enthused with the xenophobia angle* being the center of SD right now. Feels like it plays to the negative stereotype of the uncultured wrestling fan. This is why they get low advertising dollar relative to the shows high cable ratings.

*The 97 Hart Foundation was great, nuanced storytelling and an exception to the rule.

The only thing that would give Primo and Epico any appeal....

I thought it the classic Anti-American Promo. I think they might have something.

BTW. Because of the NHL Playoffs, Sportsnet (Canadian WWE provider other then the network) was forced to stream it on their website.

I don't ever EVER use streaming services online again.

I stream both shows online every week and never ever have a problem/.

I use ilemi and never have a problem. Idk anything about sportsnet

Sportsnet is one of the 2 sports media chains in Canada( the other being TSN).

Sportsnet 360 is the home for the WWE(other then the network. So basically Raw and SD)

However, Rogers (sportsnet's parent company) also owns the exclusive rights to the NHL, and it's NHL playoff time. It had to be streamed on the Sportsnet streaming serivice (sportsnet now)

Regarding Jinder's push:

Possible Reason Why Jinder Mahal is Being Given a Main Event Level Push and Title Shot in WWE

Jinder Mahal becoming the new #1 contender to the WWE Title, and aligning himself with The Bollywood Boyz, now known in WWE as The Singh Brothers, comes at a time when WWEShop.com recently expanded into India, with the likelihood that Mahal and Singh Brothers merchandise will soon be available via the WWE India Shop website. With India being a major market for WWE, the timing of Mahal becoming #1 contender to the WWE Title and WWE’s shop expansion into India might not be merely coincidence.

It makes sense to push him for these reasons, but imo the execution of it doesn't make a lot of sense, as they had him go from jobber to #1 contender overnight. Give him some wins on the midcard to build him up a bit and give him some credibility first, as opposed to a surprise win where people are still going to consider him a joke/jobber.

Exactly. Nothing he has done in the past warranted him being in the battle royal for the #1 spot. Hell, has he ever had a shot at any title up until now?

They just eliminated the "that guy has no chance" role from the multi man matches. Going forward you're not going to discount anybody in the match. You truly can't tell who will win. Its definitely a good thing you break formula, create an anything can happen feel (which continued with Shining Stars beating Alpha), and maybe you elevate somebody too.

And Orton had to dismiss him. If Randy took him seriously off the bat it is WWE telling you Jinder is dangerous now. They are playing it in a way where the announcers and Randy are rightfully skeptical (just like the audience) and Jinder is the guy saying "I'll show you." WWE isn't telling you he's a star. Jinder is. The announcers were shocked. Now it is up to him. If he has a star making match with Orton and loses he's in a position where they can do whatever they want with him. You guys have trouble seeing subtle differences.

And then ifJinder just started beating everybody "Oh it is so predictable, he hasn't lost a match in 4 months. Of course he was going to get the shot" In one swoop they basically told you "Pay attention to everybody in multi man matches, if Jinder can win the #1 contenders match, we'll put anybody over at any time." Think about it...

They have only a month to make Jinder appear legitimate with a chance to win the title. If they don't do a good enough job building him up in those 4 weeks, would anybody take that match seriously and have any interest in it? Then it basically becomes like when they had R-Truth vs Cena for the title at a PPV a few years ago...nobody cared because they did a poor job building up R-Truth up to that match.

Having Jinder win the #1 contender match gives shock value/buzz, but if he's not seen as a legitimate contender come Backlash, it was all for nothing (much like the R-Truth scenario). They've got a lot of ground to cover with him in the next 4 weeks to give him any credibility in that title match. It's a big risk on WWE's part imo.

Supposedly the Mahal push is due to WWE preparing for an India tour, but that isn't until September.

Jinder layed out Orton (with a little help) and stole the title last night so, off to a good start at building him up IMO.

I thought he gave a good promo, then they f*cked it up by making him look weak after it....

It's fine to have the Bollywood Boyz help him to a 3 on 1 attack, but don't have them save him from getting beatdown from Orton....they should've all attacked Orton from the start (similar to how it's done with the Wyatts).

They saved him but I didn't have a problem with that cause heels attack from behind plus he pushed them out of the way and took out Orton on his own. They aren't the Wyatts so why should they act like them? Depending on what WWE does next will make or break Jinder's build IMO. If Orton just steamrolls all 3 and easily takes his title back that will put a pin in Jinder's push IMO.

I was giving the Wyatts as an example, but many heel factions do that....the Shield did the same thing, as did Nexus a few years ago (everybody cornering the ring before attacking as a group), and so on..

If you have every heel faction do that it gets old fast. I didn't mind the Bollywood Boys running in at the last second cause it made me wonder if they were gonna show up or not.

I thought the promo was fine as well with the exception of one thing...please stop yelling. If Jinder would stop yelling and just speak in a normal tone, it would be far more effective

Dean Ambrose got married in the most Dean Ambrose way possible:

Renee and Dean were actually going to bed when the idea to tie the knot came about.

She tells us, "We were going to bed! We were going to bed and he like busted out the ring and we were like, 'Oh man I guess we should do this now.' So we ended up going on Yelp and we found a 24-hour pastor to come to our backyard. It was so handy and his name was Pastor Pete and he lived around the corner from us, so he was there. They were very concerned by the way because it was 1 o'clock in the morning, so technically it was Sunday and they were very concerned about us calling, they were like, 'Is everything OK? Have you guys been drinking? What's happening?' We're like, 'It's fine, you can come down.' So we had to get a witness and we called and woke up a friend of ours and got it done."

Renee Young Spills All the Secrets on ''Super Low-Key'' 1 A.M. Wedding to Dean Ambrose: We Found a 24-Hour Pastor to Marry Us on Yelp! on Total Divas

That's dope. No ridiculously expensive, fancy shit. Just "wanna get married? sure."
