Well, the seasons over. 26-56 and possibility of hanging on to the top 3 pick. Should be another interesting off season.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that they go into this off season in far better shape than any previous off season since Dr. Buss passed.

We have Jeanie indisputably in charge, Magic as president of basketball operations and Rob Pelinka as GM. If nothing else, they are likely going to be shown a lot more respect than Short Buss.

According to Pelinka, they have plans in place for both if they keep the final pick and if they don't.

Saw that article TJF12 and it appears the era of insanity has finally been put to rest. Stability and basketball sense usually predicate good things. I sense things are only going to continue to go upward!

Agree. So far, the only thing they've done that I disagree with is not asking The Logo to come back as an adviser when reports are that he would love to be asked back.

Not saying that they need him. Reality is that they probably don't. But having him participating in the conversations certainly couldn't hurt.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing TJF12. I suppose I was consoled with the knowledge his son Ryan is directly involved in the club. Apparently Ryan has excellent skills in talent recognition and that alone is something we have been missing for some time. It would be a double bonus if his father was asked to come in as well in an official capacity. I am sure Magic has talked with him on "occasion" though. lol.

It's possible. It all comes down to what they can do this off season.

So, let's say the team gets lucky and keeps the pick. Would you trade it, along with a young guy like Russell or Ingram for a proven superstar like PG13, or keep it?

That's a tough question. If the choice is trading Russell and the pick for PG-13, I probably pull that trigger. If the choice is Ingram and the pick...that becomes a lot tougher. In the end though, I probably go ahead and do it because, as much as I like Ingram, PG-13 is already the type of player we are hoping Ingram can become and is young enough that we get him in his prime.

Here is an interesting article that suggests Jordan Clarkson and the pick (should they keep it) for PG-13 (although I'm not sure that would be enough).

Why the Lakers should trade for Paul George before he hits free agency

Agree. From what I recall, Ryan learned under his Dad (and probably could seek his advice) and has become a very well respected evaluator of talent in his own right.

Yea, I saw that TJF12. I believe we really are in a very good place as the key for much of the negativity and crap that lead to faux pas and hindrances was embodied in Short Buss and his influence and control.

Yep, it's good to have the mess that was Short Buss out of the picture. It sucks that Mitch was tied to Short Buss and had to take the fall with him. Mitch was pretty well respected overall. I don't think he should have remained as GM (although I did at one point), because he wasn't conducting business the way it's done now and it was costing the Lakers. But, I would have preferred to see him moved to a different role within the organization.

Then again, we aren't privy to the inner workings of the team, so maybe he was offered a different role and turned it down or maybe there was more to why he was fired?

Yea, exactly. Maybe Kupchack will resurface at a later date but it is quite clear that Short Buss is a complete dillweed. He should go hang out with Todd Marinovich and run naked on the beaches of southern Cali! LoL!

All the cryptic messages by Magic and Pelinka about changes being made this summer and everyone is on the table is really about telling the media to chill and buzz-off. I think our core is pretty much safe and I believe that we will get our top three pick and secure our number one in 2019 as a result. I also think that the George angst will work out where we sign him as a FA with little in-return consequences.

Imo, Magic and Pelinka are taking the exact right approach. From what I heard about the exit meetings, it sounds like they basically let everyone know that they are in charge and want everyone on the same page.

If I remember what I heard correctly, they basically gave guys a list of things they need to be working on and that it's not optional.

So nice to actually have people in charge that have a clear plan and expect everyone to be on board.

Yep. That is basically what the two principles in charge have presented to the media and anyone else who will listen.

Jerry West is interested in returning to the Lakers but the feeling isn't mutual? C'mon, Magic!!!!

Saw it on NBC, reported by that raging alcoholic Fred Roggin.

Yeah, I agree with what I heard Roggin say about it on his radio show. The Lakers don't need Jerry West to accomplish what they are trying to accomplish...but it definitely wouldn't hurt to have him in on the conversations.

Hopefully they will have a change of heart. It would be nice to have him back where he belongs.

Maybe he just wants to hang out with his son and get paid some serious cash to do it.
