I actually like Stokes rotation but I do think WLK has a stronger team...

Flip a coin here. I like stokes lineup a little better but like WLK's rotation more. Slight lean to WLK winning.

I know stoke doesn't like to trade in these mocks, and I agree with his reasonings... But this team NEEDED a trade IMO... Would have loved to see him trade Frank Howard and draft Ron Santo instead of Cal ripken...

Other than that, I thought Stoke actually did a great job for his strategy... Unfortunately, most of us don't give Mike Cuellar the credit he probably deserves... But besides that he got some of the best none HOF players in this mock... Unfortunately his HOFers are just too weak to win...

It would be a disservice to vote for my team.

Interesting thought, but would have been crucified. My hands were tied when I realized too late that Rose didn't play any SS, so Ripken was a default choice. It was either Cal or Ozzie, and my team wasn't strong enough to opt for a defensive player at any position.

Stoke voted and did you send out texts stating matchups have been posted? If you did then that's all you can ask for. Let's just congratulate @wlk3 on his win :suds:

To continue with the trade idea. Believe it or not, Howard's offensive numbers were better than Santo's (where I needed them to be, against lefties). Also, Dick Allen would have been chased from 3rd leaving me with an even bigger backlog at 1st (and that's just against lefties, as his numbers wouldn't justify him playing against righties, and I already had 1 HoFer not playing against righties).

Really, the issue with my draft is that I didn't give it as much time as I usually do. In my desire to create an offense and pitching staff that was balances between '69 and '96 I went heavy early '69 to get the required offensive skill from '69 and waited too long to pick a '96 player. I made some pretty glaring mistakes this draft.

Overall, you made the right choice. Going pitching and HOF was the right strategy in this draft (you went pitching but just not HOF), I didn't realize the depth of the pitching was so weak. You had the right strategy and got the best non-HOF team by far but if you would have taken a couple of great HOF'rs first you would have one of the best teams IMO, Still a better team than mine bc my starters sucked lol

1) No text was received (I double checked)

2) Even if there had been 1 - I don't respond to anything before 5 a.m.

3) I didn't expect this to be close, so no surprise it was over before I could defend my team.

4) I didn't want to defend my team.

I think I would have still lost to you. Your team isn't so bad. My only issue with it is you went way too heavy into the era's strength. Too much offense from the offensive '90s and too much pitching from the pitching '60s. I may have done some things differently in the actual lineup (like switching Edmonds and Vaughn), but overall you've got a pretty solid offensive juggernaut.

Though no one mentioned it - I have only 4 Hall of Famers, which would put me behind the 8 ball in any matchup.
