And this is not what you think......

I have to throw out a MONSTER CONGRATULATIONS to CLARKSBURG NOTRE DAME for FINALLY bringing home a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!...They won this weekend against Ravenswood in the Class A Basketball Championships in Charleston!!..

Breaking a streak of futility for all sports that I WAS A PART of dating back to the stone age...

There have been some of the most talented athletes in the area to go through those doors and we ALL failed ( Me Included ) .....countless All State First and Second Teamer's, and countless football and basketball scholarships including FBS...but always choking...or always the bridesmaid...

But FINALLY!!...congrats to Wv's own and Notre Dame Head Coach Jarrod West and his his son Jarrod Jr...the Tournaments MVP and on his way to play for the Marshall Thundering Herd..

Notre Dame was led by Marshall University commit Jarrod West who shot 9-13 from the field, and 4-4 from 3-point range, to score 29 points for the Irish. West also dished out 6 assists, pulled in 4 rebounds and got 4 steals.

Big write up for West in the Charleston Gazzette..

Doug Smock: State title in hand, Jarrod West can now focus on Marshall hoops

His stats from the Tournament..

That result capped off an extraordinary week for the Irish, and for West. The Marshall signee scored 29 points in that game, a day after he dropped in 35 in a 73-51 rout of Wheeling Central. In the first round against Gilmer County, he settled for 16 points, but had nine rebounds and nine assists.

The week’s stat line: 80 points, 19 rebounds, 19 assists, six steals, 27-of-44 shooting and 8 of 12 from 3-point range and 18 of 25 from the line.

Hard to believe this was ND's first ever state championship. Wow!

I come from a school that wins championships on a regular basis. I have no idea how it would feel to be you.

Morgantown High Mohigans. School of champions...

They won several titles when it used to be an all Catholic league since the State didn't feel it was fair the parochial schools had an advantage to recruit kids .the Catholic teams were not admitted to the WVSSAC until 1977...

There have been many individual titles in sports that you can win them in but not a team sport that I can remember...maybe they won baseball before I would need to do some digging..

But as far as I can remember they have been to a title game in many sports like 20 times...first time they've won it...not sure if these kids understand the redemption in winning it all for all the times we failed to get it done!

Must have been a BIG game, Slaton. I noticed it on Root Sports Pittsburgh this evening as I was being seated at Yukoso's Habachi Restaurant over in the Waterfront.

Good point. Damn parochial schools always known as a bunch of cheating fucks! That's why the WVSSAC wouldn't allow them to compete against public schools.

Catholic school AD's must have as much integrity as DAD! I guess it's a religious thing...
