Last 2 recruiting classes have been top 10 if I'm not mistaken and Strong has fielded 2 of the worst defenses in UT history and has had 2 losing seasons. Right now, I could care less if the recruiting class is #70 as long as these players have skills. WVU, Utah and Colorado all have had recruiting classes ranked from the 40's all the way through the 60's the last 2 years and they are light years ahead of this program.

Ranked #70 means that there is a very good probability that we won't get the players with the skill set to get us to the next level. The defense is a little better, but not nearly enough to get to the next level. Let's face it, they still suck no matter who coaches them. I'm done with the coaching controversy. We have very little talent. It's better than a few years ago, but we have so far to go. #70 recruiting classes aren't going to get us there.

Looking at Rivals for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 recruiting years.

Alabama
5* - 17 players
4* - 55 players

Texas
5* - 3 players
4* - 44 players

17 - 5* players! No wonder they are in the running for the NC every year. I can assure you, It's not because their coaches are better. Remember, Lane Kiffin was the laughing stock of the country a few years ago. He was a total joke. He hadn't gotten any better, he just got better players to coach. It makes a huge difference. Again, we have got to find a way to get some 5 star talent to Austin. The 44 four star players for Texas is nice, but it's not enough. You have to have some thoroughbreds on the team.

Strong is setting your program back 10 years. How do you have more 4 star guys on your bench than WVU has on their entire team and still look so bad. We could trade tx for Houston in the B12 and it would be an improvement.

Probably because they really aren't 4 star players. The media plays a big part in building these players up. Another reason you need to get as many as possible. Not all of them meet their star rating. Don't understand the trade comment.

Interested to see where that ranking ends up by sundown on NSD. Saw Hermans presser, guy said all the right things and stressed hitting in state recruiting which he is clearly very familiar with. Where yall think the class ends up as far as rankings now? I know he doesn't have a lot of time at this point but any high profile kids interested now that weren't a few weeks ago? Top 30-35 realistic?

I'll be happy with a top 25 class. One can't really determine what Strong has left Herman. Yeah, the last 2 classes were top 10, but these players have been nothing but pure dog shit the last 2 years. Spare me the young excuse. Just b/c you're a freshman or sophomore doesn't mean you automatically forget how to play football. Was it Strong's awful coaching that held these guys back, or are they overrated? We'll soon see. Coach Herman definitely has his work cut out for him.

If Tom Herman and his coaching staff suck, it doesn't matter if he pulls in the #1 recruiting class. Strong pulled in 2 top 10 recruiting classes and couldn't beat Kansas....:L

For the record Phantom, MSU and UW's best recruiting classes since 2013 were both at #18 and both have made the playoffs. It's all about coaching....

I love what you just said, but reverse it. Example, Strong was a pretty good coach everywhere he had been. So what your saying is, all the sudden when he got to Texas he became a bad coach. I seriously doubt it.

It's all about the PLAYERS. Once again, how much coaching do you think Earl Campbell or Vince Young received? If we could get enough superstars, you and I could take over. All you need to do is guide talent, not coach. Big difference.

Now #34 though.

As a head coach, Strong was good at L'ville while coaching in one of the weakest conferences in NCAA history (The Big Least, I mean Big Easy, I mean Big East). He failed on an epic level once he coached in a big boy conference. Now he rocked as a DC, but we've seen this happen to many coaches who were rock stars as coordinators but failed as a head coach (Muschamp is a strong example, no pun intended). I guarantee Strong will succeed at USF, not b/c he's a great coach, but b/c he's back in a weaker conference at a school that has little to no history or tradition and where there is ZERO pressure to win.
