So much for saying Butler doesn't have a high ceiling. :dhd:

Butler could conceivably win it all or lose in the first round. They don't have talent that is overwhelming and because of that they are susceptible to losing to bad teams(St. John's/Indiana State). But they are extremely well coached and the culture around that program is that they are expected to win, especially come tournament time. Haven't lost in the 1st round of the NCAAT since 2009.

A small part of me was actually rooting for Butler.

A lot of teams are capable of beating villanova at home.

I stop say sweet 16 ceiling tho I would love for them to prove me wrong. Big East needs another team to do something in the tornament

Butler just always seems to win the big game. They are still the 4th best team in league.

Butler now 7-0 against the RPI top 100. And that doesn't even include Indiana and Utah, who will almost assuredly get there by the end of the season. What a great resume.

I saw both games they lost. They could, you could argue should, be 15-0.

Maybe I'm underrating them. I'm just so damn familiar with their team. Sometimes you lose your stars and the new players step up and its a completely different team.

And after all they are Butler University. So seeing them in the Final 4 shouldn't shock anybody.

I don't like complaining about refs but did they come into this game thinking "SHU is way bigger so if they don't grab the ball they were clearly fouled"?

Because this is an absolute fucking joke.

Best free throw team goes full R word for another embarrassing collapse vs SHU

But somehow they won in OT without Fischer and Hauser. Matt Heldt as a hero? Take cover.

Season saving win. Still alive.

Long way to go but he's shaping up to go down as one of the all time greats at Marquette.

If he's a 4 year player(with his lack of size I'm hoping he is) he will be a heavy favorite to take the scoring crown. And early returns on his on/off court leadership are outstanding.

I'm still on the fence about the team direction as a whole. But goddamn am I glad the big schools missed the boat on him.

Marquette is looking phenomenal against Butler right now. What a huge win this would be for Wojo and Marquette.

We have notoriously blown leads so far this year but yeah that was a great, great half. If we could have gotten a few more D rebounds this is a 20+ point lead.

Badly need to find a way to close it out

Holy shit. You said this when Marquette was up 8 and still thought it was a little crazy. You know your team, unfortunately, for this. Marquette is basically Minnesota. Still need to learn how to close out games.

Had no idea that these games were being played so early. I should start paying more attention. Just saw Marquette gave up 63 second half points.

Yeah, no one knows their team better than their fans. When I saw Wake Forest only had a one point halftime lead over UVA a week ago, I knew they were going to lose by double digits. They ended up losing by 17 points.

Wake always seems to have like a bad 5-7 minute stretch that completely costs them games. The other 35 minutes they have a lead, or play even it seems like. I think they are MUCH better than their record indicates at this point.

I didn't see the game, but it seems kinda common in NCAAB these days for a team to be holding their own on the road in the first half and then totally give up their shit after halftime.

There's not really an explanation for it other than home teams play much better in the 2nd half.

Hope Mo Watson is alright. Certainly doesn't look like it though. What a shame if he's out for the season. Probably the best year in school history and you lose a top 20 player in the country.
