If this thing gets rolling, we will really see which schools have been recruiting dummies.

Either that, or else the boosters up their game and start handing out checks for $60,000 per year to players so they come to their school AND they do not have to attend classes AND they get women.

Pacific Pro Football League to debut in 2018

"The players will also receive paid tuition and books at local community colleges"

All the while prepping for the NFL.......

That's sounds vaguely familiar..:puzzled:

I liked Golic's proposed idea of a bus league in Florida.

NFL Europe was good for the game. We wouldn't have the James Harrison's of the world if it weren't for that.

The difference between NFL Europe and a bus league in Florida is I would actually watch it. Fan attendance could (in theory) be better, viewership would be higher, and the player pool would be deeper.

$2.5M in players salary alone before benefits, coaches, trainers etc? Man that's an expensive business to jump into.

It will only make it if the NFL gets on board with it.

It will be all about the viewship imo. Doubt the attendance will be much to speak of but live football will draw a tv audience ( bowl games have proven that).
Be interesting to see which network picks it up (unless I missed that) NFL network? PAC?BIG?ESPN?SEC?

Could hurt CFB recruiting if it has some success. Some of those borderline kids may not put in the effort to qualify for college with full intentions of playing football for 50k per year.

Agreed on viewership. It might make a dent for a year or two, but who is going to give a fuck about the Santa Barbara Knights or Ft. Lauderdale Palm Trees? I have a hard time making myself watch bad NFL and college games.

I understand that they think there's room to cut out college and be more player friendly, but what they seem to be ignoring is that fandom is territorial. People like college teams because they went there or their parents went there or, at least, they grew up in the area. I don't know who their audience is supposed to be.

And what's more, I don't want to care. Who needs another football team to follow? Who do they think is just going to wake up one day and think, "You know, I've spent a good 12 hours of my weekends for 4 months of the year watching football, but I could really go for some more with a new team I have zero attachment to."?

I'm totally confused about the economics of this, exactly how are they expecting to make any profit to pay for all the expenses they will have. They won't get a major network to pay for it, which network is going to pay millions to film in HS stadiums? Won't get a major athletic sponsor since UA and Nike has a massive stake in the NCAA. Leagues have started and made the mistake of going up against the NFL. Trying to go up against a more passionate fan base of college football is near the definition of financial suicide.

It's basically arena football not in an arena played in the summer. Doing it in summer seems dumb considering the heat and summer activities.

Play the games in the spring.

Okay time out first thing first. Where are the African American in the organization? The hell with these white boy's trying to make millions on the backs of predominantly black players. Fux that I suggest no African American do not play in this league unless it reflects them in ownership and the league front office. No new format of slavery period. Hell no......

LOL

Yea, b/c the PPL would be just like slavery except that it's voluntary, the players get an education, are paid good wages, are not abused/killed, and can leave whenever they want. Other than that, it's exactly like slavery! Wait a minute...that sounds like most real jobs...only better! SMH. It's like some of these "educated" morons have no clue what slavery or racism really are.

I don't see this making it far or hurting college football. It's just a semi pro league.
