Okay, I have to admit I'm bummed that Alabama didn't win the game last night; but if they had to lose, at least it was to a coach (Dabo Sweeney) and a program (Clemson) that I respect.

Now on to the subject at hand: I don't know if anyone has begun crafting "official" records of the College Football Playoffs, but the ones I am about to submit are totally factual and accurate:

First CFP National Champion: Ohio St. (2014)

First teams to make the CFP Championship Game: Ohio St., Oregon (2014)

First Team to win a playoff game as a #4 seed: Ohio St. (2014)

First CFP Champion to fail to make the field the next year: Ohio St. (2014)

First pair of championship game participants to fail to make the playoffs the next year: Ohio St., Oregon (2014)

Most participants to fail to make the playoffs the year after an appearance: 3 (Florida St., Ohio St., Oregon), 2015

First undefeated team to lose in the playoffs: Florida St. (1st. round, 2014)

First team to defeat a previously unbeaten team in the playoffs: Oregon (1st. round, 2014)

First team to make consecutive playoff appearances: Alabama (2014, 2015)

First team to make three straight CFP appearances: Alabama (2014, 2015, 2016)

(more to come)

You cannot be Selected to play in a Playoff, that is called a Tournament. Teams Mathematically earn their way into a playoff. Just because the media calls it that does not make it so.

A Perfect Example is if the NFL this year was the NCAA, The Denver Broncos would have made the "Playoffs" over the Miami Dolphins.

Zeke's rushing yards in both the semi and championship games could stand for awhile

Except this is called the college football playoffs and they are selected by a committee. If you want to call up droider and use his contacts to change the name to "College Football Tournament" then by all means but until such time, selected to play in a playoff in this context is correct.
