Texas seems to be getting a Herman bump. LSU seems way too high at this point, given the coach they hired. PSU is not the 4th best team in the country. And once again OSU has to reload some pretty important key losses.

Should be a fun season. Michigan faces off against Florida in Texas to open the year.

This might sound funny but look out for Notre Dame and their new QB and Coordinators

And tell us why you would have UGA at 13. BTW, USC is way way to high, maybe 18 or so

That sounds funny....ND was 4-8 this year and their schedule isn't much easier next year. I think ND under Kelly is done and they should have gotten rid of him this year. Next year, from an outsider's point of view, seems like a wasted year for ND. They'll probably under perform and Kelly will be gone. Much like Texas this year where they should have gotten rid of Strong at the end of last season. I think ND might get to 7 or 8 wins next year (maybe) but have an equal or greater chance of winning 6 or less.

If you click the link, ESPN gives their reasons for every ranking.

For Georgia

i

2016 record: 8-5, 4-4 SEC
Returning starters: 7 offense, 10 defense, 2 special teams

Key losses: WR/KR Isaiah McKenzie, LT Tyler Catalina, C Brandon Kublanow, OT Greg Pyke, S Maurice Smith

Outlook: After limping through much of Kirby Smart's first season as coach of his alma mater, the Bulldogs might be poised to take control of the SEC East in 2017. Tailbacks Nick Chubb and Sony Michel and linebackers Davin Bellamy and Lorenzo Carter have decided to return for their senior seasons rather than enter the NFL draft early. Quarterback Jacob Eason should be better in his second season as a starter, and help for the offensive line is coming in a top-five recruiting class. Georgia is expected to lose only one starter on defense -- safety Maurice Smith -- and many of its best players on that side of the ball were freshmen and sophomores. The Bulldogs will play at Tennessee and Auburn in the SEC, and will take nonconference road trips to Notre Dame and Georgia Tech.

I'm pretty sure if we get under 7 or maybe 8 wins Kelly is gone for sure. At least we got a new Defensive Coordinator and Offensive Coordinator.

I don't think the coordinators are the problem at ND.

OSU's reloading will be much easier this year. Returning 4/5 OL (including getting an OT back from injury who very likely would've started this year) and all starting DL. McMillan will be a tough loss in the run game but he was a liability in the passing game. Anyone who has paid attention the last 4 years should realize reloading our defensive backfield isn't a concern. Samuel is the biggest loss of them all, but I have a lot of faith in Demario McCall, not to mention the biggest boost - gaining a real OC for the first time since Herman left.

It's every year, BUT nothing will be like last year where they only had 6 returning starters overall. I expected a good season but not one loss. This upcoming year they will have 17 returning starters, a HUGE difference. But J.T. will have dramatically improve for them to be contenders, plain and simple.

Michigan way too high.
I think they put Michigan where they should have put OSU last year. It could really go either way. Either Michigan's highly ranked recruiting classes can reload the lost seniors, or they won't and they'll fall to the bottom of the rankings and have an average year.

FSU too high. Rarely live up to the hype. 2013 I think FSU started around the 10-12 spot if I remember correctly

Edit: it was 11th

Given how that OL performed on New Years Eve, is that a positive?
I'm not putting it all on the OL. Hopefully with a real passing offense in place, they won't have to worry about holding off rushers for 15 seconds each snap.

You guys had like 43 seniors on the roster this year. The best player you bring back is who, Speight?

Is there a "way too early bottom 25" so I can figure out where Michigan State falls?

Well, we still don't know about Peppers. Assuming he goes pro...

I'm excited about Evans and Higdon at RB. Both are better pure runners than Smith was. I think Smith remained the start because of pass blocking. Hurst, Mone and Gary on the D-line and hopefully Jeremy Clark (injured in the first or second game) can get a 6th year and be our starting safety.

So while they weren't technical "starters" at RB, between Higdon and Evans they had almost as many touches this season as Smith did. Same thing for Hurst and Mone on the D-line and many other players. So I don't think the transition at many positions will be as drastic as "losing 10 defensive starters" sounds.
