December 26th, 27th, and 28th

Hey, folks! Hope you had a good Christmas; San Diego State certainly did (They won the Diamond Head Classic over San Francisco yesterday). Now for a big announcement: Conference play begins tomorrow! So let's sift through the games and find those little beauties: (All times are Eastern)

Morgan State @ Loyola-Marymount (8:00)

December 27th:

Michigan State @ Minnesota (9:00) [Ditto for Minnesota]
SMU @ Memphis (9:00)

December 28th:

Houston @ UConn (3:00)
Wake Forest @ Florida State (5:00)
DePaul @ Villanova (6:30)
UNC-Wilmington @ Clemson (7:00) [It's not an ACC game for Clemson, but it's still a big one; Wilmington is 11-1 and dangerous.]
Huge Game: Virginia @ Louisville (7:00)

Monmouth @ North Carolina (7:00)
Providence @ Xavier (7:00)
Big Game: Seton Hall @ Creighton (8:00)

Iowa @ Purdue (8:30)

Great slate of games today.

Plus an automatic win for my team. That's what I love about college sports. There IS such a thing as an automatic win.

Oh, you're referring to Villanova's close win over DePaul, right? Well sir, don't feel down. That's just what happens when conference play begins.
Just ask UCLA; are they REALLY back, or did Oregon expose them with that 89-87 victory? Is your answer "I don't know"? Good! We won't really know until it's around mid-February. And on that note-
Okay, no spoilers. Let's just look at what else happened yesterday:

Virginia over Louisville 61-53
Creighton over Seton Hall 89-75
Nebraska upsets Indiana 87-83 (FINALLY! Our first REAL upset of the 2016-17 season!)
Xavier over Providence 82-56
Florida State over Wake Forest 88-72
Cincinnati over Temple 56-50
Clemson over UNC-Wilmington 87-73
Pittsburgh over Marshall 112-106 (Near "Whoopsie" for Pitt)
Wichita State over Indiana State 80-72 (And the Missouri Valley is under way.)
Marquette over Georgetown 76-66

Next post, I'll have a big announcement...

December 29th and 30th

Okay, here goes. Over the last 2 seasons, I've realized that it's pointless to make predictions and witty comments on CBB action over the mouth of January. Why? Because as we saw, everyone is feeling each other out and it can get VERY confusing. Best to just duck under the water-line and wait until mid-February, when most expects know what a team is or isn't.

So after January 2nd, I'll be taking an hiatus from this thread. But don't worry; around February 18th I'll come back, and then I'll have a clear understanding on where everyone is.
Until then, I have a duty to do: Give you all the best games to watch over the next 2 days: (All times are Eastern)

Thursday:
Georgia @ Auburn (7:00)

Tennessee @ Texas A&M (7:00)
Wright State @ Oakland (7:00)
Butler @ St. John's (7:00)
Game of the Day: Kentucky @ Ole Miss (8:00)
Florida @ Arkansas (9:00)

Pepperdine @ Gonzaga (9:00)
Saint Mary's @ Loyola-Marymount (11:00)

Friday:
Game of the Day: West Virginia @ Oklahoma State (4:00)

St. Bonaventure @ UMass (4:00)
Valparaiso @ UIC (5:00)
Northwestern @ Michigan State (6:00)
Texas Tech @ Iowa State (6:00)

Baylor @ Oklahoma (7:00)
Texas @ Kansas State (8:00)
VCU @ George Mason (8:00)
South Carolina @ Memphis (9:00)
Kansas @ TCU (9:00)
USC @ Oregon (10:00)

Arizona @ California (11:00)

little frustrating to watch officials go to the monitor and STILL get it wrong at the end of the UConn/tulsa game.

Yep, the officiating is shit already this year. FSU player had a UVA player, who had the ball in hand, in a head lock, yet they call jump ball. So infuriating.
