I think its a slippery slope...if you know that you are not going to get all the targeted recruits you're after it makes sense to fill it with JUCO's and just not fill the class with kids that may never see the field in their careers at WV..

But if you keep going to the well like this you will run into depth issues sooner or later...and it will definitely impact scout teams and practices..

One thing I haven't really kept up on is how Dana manages the walkon program...I give Rich and Nehlen a lot of credit there..they had a good system for it..

I always think of KState when I think of programs (Big12 in particular) that have had success with JUCO players and they seem to have done well in the conference. In a perfect world you would want a large group of HS kids every year with a JUCO guy sprinkled in here and there but there is just not enough patience in CFB for that and too much talent that can get you a few more wins just waiting to be added from the JUCO ranks. JMO but you take the White brothers and Crawford off of this years team and Dana may not be the coach at WVU right now. Agree you have to watch what you are doing but they can help you a lot.

We'll have to see how hard Dana hits the JUCO route going forward. Outside of '13 and this year, Dana has averaged around 4 JUCO's per class.

In '13, he was attempting to build depth of upperclassmen because of the critical shortages he inherited from Billy. This year, he had to get the best talent possible after being hurt for the past year and a half with no extension.

I doubt we'll see the need to hit JUCO's this hard going forward.

Spot on imo.

a Juco with 3 left to play two is just as good if not better than a freshmen, of course it all matters on the players anyway. I think JUCO's is a path we should stay on, we have a great mix of young and new in a class.

Thank god for the JUCO road the last two years.

Kevin Ka'ron, Kyzir, Bruce, Rasul, Skyler I like JUCO transfers. There are many great players who do not qualify out of high school. JUCO gives them a chance to develop and get the grades, and most have already proven themselves against better competition.

Add in some graduate transfers and you will find that our best players over the past few years have come from the JUCO ranks. Look at our QB situation the past few years. Highly regarded recruits like Childress and Crest don't pan out and we get castoffs like Trickett and Skylar and Grier. Good way to fill in your team.
