Tenn hasn't looked good this year. I don't think they are an issue. Mizz is one of the worst teams in the SEC. Miss St is meh... lots of mediocre teams in the SEC this year. Florida, TAMU, and Ark look to be in a group behind Kentucky.. then there is everyone else.
Based on what i've seen so far of the league i'd say:

1. Kentucky
2. Florida
3. Arkansas
4. TAMU
5. South Carolina

I haven't really seen any of the others though. wonder if Alabama and Auburn are any good? I imagine it won't be long until Pearl has some salty clubs at Barn. I'm going to go out on the limb here and say Arkansas has a darkhorse chance at winning the SEC this year. Most teams fold when down 20 points during a horrific shooting night(vs a redhot opponent to boot), but not this year. Depth, shooting, defense. Something we haven't had in a very long time.

Yup. Team came out and laid a complete egg. We'll see if Mike Anderson can get these boys to win with his style vs good competion. Jury is still out IMO. Lots of people think he needs to be fired.

I think Miss St looks like they could be tough. UCLA is a good team.. and they played them tough most of the game. Scary front court they have down there.

Won't happen. I was just talking about this at lunch with a big booster... his comment was Jeff Long doesn't have the stomach to fire him yet and says he has at least 1-2 more season before that happens barring a complete meltdown. They have some thugs on the team and Anderson is about the only one who can control some of them. Additionally, once you start that revolving door with a coach.. not sure it gets better as we see time and time again. Too many people around here expect a return to the Nolan Richardson days which isn't going to happen any time soon. They need some consistency, but they also need to keep some talent local. I don't refer to Monk.. nobody blames that level of talent for going to UK. However, watching Florida this year... I often wonder how two of our best offensive players got recruited out of the state of Arkansas. And Allen is a good kid and keeps his nose clean. He and Leon would have been a solid addition to the Hogs. In fact, Anderson had a chance last season as Donovan's departure had Leon wanting to transfer but White ended up keeping him. That it the biggest issue Anderson faces IMO... he has to start keeping some of the good local talent who aren't thugs. Can't keep losing them to other SEC school. Even Jimmy Whit (who I thought had a lot of potential coming out of high school) looked like shit with Arkansas. He played at Bentonville one night with Monk and looked pretty good (think he scored 30). But when he joined the Hogs, he played like someone sliced his nuts off and lost all his aggressiveness. I heard he transferred out but have no idea where..

Arkansas beat Houston last night, but it wasn't with the press. It was with a mixture of zone and man with situational pressing and trapping. The game was close for most of the night, then the hogs ran away with it in the final minutes. Offense is really coming along nicely, but this team is still not prepared for what it will face in the SEC.

Current SEC Rankings:

1. Kentucky
2. South Carolina
3. Florida
4. A&M
5. Arkansas

Highlights of the hogs win over Houston:

Nice win for Arkansas last night. I'll be a fan of them all year(to make our win look better). Arkansas has the look of a tournament team.

Thanks, i think. This team won't soon forget the smacking it took on the road against Minnesota, who is obviously still a much better team than we are at this point. Obviously, Coffee is a baller, not sure how he isn't a lottery pick, he has serious game. I imagine that by the end of the season he's the top rated SF headed into the draft. I do think the officiating was questionable at times during that game, but obviously good teams overcome that. We hit our shots and it's a different ballgame, and that can only be blamed on our failure to execute offensively, which has been the story during Mike Anderson's tenure vs good defensive teams like Minnesota. I'm curious to see how we fare vs the next strong defensive team we will face. A win and we're on the right track. Another blowout, and we're simply going to be sitting home come march

It was meant in a complimentary manner. I was surprised that we won that game to be honest. Having watched the gophers all season that was by far the best they've played. Arkansas was just unfortunate to hit us at our best. Coffey has been everything us gopher fans could have hoped for. He really is a match up problem given his size. I'm hoping he sticks around another year and I think he will because if he can put on some weight he'd be even that much better.

Arkansas is talented, for sure. Like I said before they have the make up of a tournament team. Biggest thing, and I know you know this, will be to avoid bad road losses.

He had one of the uglier shots I've seen. Interested to see how he does at SMU though. We do have the state locked down the next three years with a lot of 4* guys so it's nice to get them committed early.

Games against Texas and Florida coming up will tell a lot. Have to like where we're at compared to last year at this time.

Auburn is a young team(3 best players Freshman) but there is no reason why they should be losing to Boston College who has already lost to Nicholls and Hartford. I thought Auburn may be able to break through this year, but it looks like they need another recruiting class. Good news for them is they have a top 10 class coming in.

Jesus dude settle down. This isn't the NBA, 50 pt game is your prediction???

He went for 47 tonight against UNC. Yeah, the kid is from another planet. I haven't seen someone get that hot since Jodie Meeks in Knoxville.

20+ as a freshman??? .....engrave the trophy, im not buying it till i see it though.

Hopefully you have seen it now. Kid was born with something. I watched him put up 45 against Jason Tatum in high school as a Junior. He is something special... and was averaging 19.4+ even with the starters being pulled with 10 mins left in the game most of the season.

And 43% from 3-pt range for the season?

Sad part he has a nasty driving game as well, but we haven't seen it much at UK except when he broke Berry's ankles on that drive last night.

Yeah, we are splitting hairs at 47... but like I said earlier in this thread, he will likely have a few 40+ pt games this year. Averaging 20 is almost a foregone conclusion at this point as he gets the ball more (as Coach Cal said last night).

I think they saw Briscoe single handily lose that UCLA game by not passing to Monk when he was wide open and forcing shots about 15 times... looks like Coach Cal had enough of that.

And keep in mind Monk and the other starters are often getting pulled with 10 mins left in the game in blowouts. Every time they place a solid team, Monk goes off. Hopefully the SEC has enough competition to keep him in the game more than 27 mins.

I believe Briscoe can thrive once he stops trying to prove he can shoot. UK has 3 guys that are impossible matchups with Monk, Fox and Bam. Gabriel is a player. The Cats need Briscoe for defense, but I saw UNC go to a match-up zone last night where they just ignored Briscoe outside .Gonna see more of that. If the Cats play Willis at the 3 more, their offense will be devastating, but their defense will suffer
