Very good year all things considered.
Defense lost its best player and highly rated LB that was expected to play a lot for the season in fall camp.

Offense lost starting LT for the season in fall camp and started 4 different RB's throughout the season due to injuries plus had a QB that had zero offers out of HS and played RB at a small college running the show.

Special teams had a Groza finalist punter quit the team after 4th game..

Heckuva job by Dana to get to 10 this season, we'all see what happens as far as the bowl but it's all gravy at this point anyway, we weren't supposed to have this kind of year until next season.

C-

Loss to UNC at home is unacceptable no matter if the dude nailed a 50+ yard field goal to win it
Ass kicking by Louisville was terrible.

Clemson loss at home in a close one is okay
But our best win is what? Florida? Miami? Nothing special. Could go up to a C when we win the Orange Bowl

B+. I expected 9-3 and we went 10-3, but all three losses were extremely winnable. Defense was better than expected other than the secondary collapse against Penn State. The offense was a jump over last year, but I expected a bit more. The line looks to be improving, but the team is badly missing young playmakers.

Overall, I'd give us a B-. Our O was very good, but our D sucked ass and special teams did nothing impressive. If we lose the Sugar, drop that to a C. If we win Sugar, a solid B.

Damn, couple of our people be grading harsh and shit.

A and it doesn't matter what they do in the Peach.

Entirely not expected to reach this level this quickly. If you can't give a team that made the CFP and wasn't really expected to be top 10 going into the season an A, then who can you? :noidea:

Everybody be grading harsh and shit. I don't know what the deal is. Just because it's college ball doesn't mean every team should get a C if they don't win 11 or more games. UW would get an A from me if I were a big fan.

All that said Idaho gets an A- from me. I said at the beginning of the year the best they could hope for was 8-4 and they fucking did it. Only way to improve would have been to have better showings in their four losses which were all pretty lopsided.

It's a solid D-
After 18 years I expect a Head Coach to have it going on better than Bob does.
Getting beat by Houston and an Ohio State team with the fewest returning starters of any team in the nation in Norman Oklahoma just doesn't cut it for a coach that should have all the answers, but instead, has questions.

Win or Lose the Sugar Bowl doesn't affect this grade at all.

11-1=solid A for the season. It could be an A- with a poor showing in the Peach Bowl. However a win would be an A+++++++, with a hot for teacher in the back round.

Harbaugh Stardate 2. They were in position to go undefeated, but they fell a little short. They even may have won the ohio state game, but the teachers didn't like them. You have to take the game out of the official's control. They caught a good Iowa team at a bad time. They are still only in year 2 of Harbaugh. A win against Florida State could move them up to an A. For the record, I am an easy grader (maybe not for ohio state).

Adequate improvement, some of the same lingering issues. Lots of seniors this year, Riley will have his players in place next year. We'll see if he and they are worth a shit.

A-

They did remarkably well considering they lost 12 starters to the NFL. I was expecting 9-3 or 10-2. being 11-1 and in the playoffs tells me Urban has this team in the exclusive club of just reloading with next man up talent. they should be scary good next year. This was a down year and I couldn't be happier with the wins over the sooners, corn cobs, and skunk weasels. They have the talent to play with anyone this year if the right team shows up. we'll see. if they lose in the playoff, it was still a successful year.

Same grade here. Only way it could be A+ was if we beat USC. Besides that, a historic season and playoff birth. Amen!!!

You can grade on your expectations, or you can grade everyone, at least every p5 team, on the same criteria. If it's the latter, I say at least A- if they at least look tough in the Peach Bowl, B+ if they don't, A if they win and play for the championship, A+ if they win it all.

If it's the former, a solid A regardless of what happens.

I'd give an F except for the fact we finally found a QB who will be around more than 1 season and we let go a coach(s) who were failing.

Yeah, finding a competent (freshman) QB in house was really the positive takeaway for you guys. Don't know what they ever saw in purkup (or whatever the fuck his name is) to not go with the freshman sooner.
