Were you the Boise fan who at the begging of the season was saying USCs got talent but the head coach (Helton) wasn't good?

To be fair, at the beginning of the season when USC was 1-3 including losing by nearly 50 to Bama, there were reports of a player taking a swing at Helton and reports of Helton losing the locker room.

USC has a great turnaround from that bad start, but hindsight is 20-20 when gloating about what you know now over things said when the national perspective of USC football was far different than it is today, just a few short months later.

I'm looking forward to the Trojans and Sooners both getting good enough to meet again in the NC game. We owe you guys big time. :suds:

I went to that game. Great fans you guys have. Looks like both teams are close.

Well, a lot of the talk was when he was hired as the head coach before he even started the season.

A blue blood program hiring a rookie head coach is gonna get some criticism. Best way to shut them up is to win, and USC has done that.

I was there too. I was "that guy" on the 35 yard line getting yelled at by his wife because I kept cussing too much. But WTF? We got railed that night. You guys were the better team, no doubt, but damn. That was ugly. :tsk:

I'm not going to say I knew it would go like this but I knew it was a huge improvement on lanesarknado. He's an adult and he's been consistent and willing to delegate.

Yes and so far I've been proven wrong. It's certainly not the first time. I just thought that USC could have done better at that time because well, they are USC. Congrats on a great turnaround and season. I like SC even though I'm an ASU grad. I've always said that when they are a force college football is better for it.

Gamecocks were indisputably the best team in the nation but it was also obvious that the refs were told to hold us down for the benefit of the traditional powers. Once Obama is out of office next year I expect a national championship.

Might have been me, after the team quit against Alabama I thought Helton already lost the team.

Turns out I was wrong, impressive turnaround

F-

Too many wins to get Claeys fired for on the field performance (though he may get canned for supporting the players boycott).

The minus is for this week.

No joke, based on preseason expectations, I'd give South Carolina a B for making a bowl game. I was thinking 9 or 10 losses.

Yep. Cuz we suck. That's why Boise gets the D+ from me. Because we played another shit schedule and embassingly lost two games against it. Couldn't even win our pathetic division for the second year in a row. Completely unacceptable.

Our division is actually rated better than the SEC East if that's any consolation....

Ok that's not any consolation the SEC East sucks, I can't argue with our grade for the most part.

I'll give us a C-, we were that slacker who at times looked like he could do so much more but ended up being mediocre. Our first halves against Washington State and Oregon State were great, unfortunately we were total garbage in the 2nd half of those 2 games

I think you assessed that perfectly. While the change to Darnold played a major role. I think Helton being an adult played a major role as well. The players respect him a lot. You can see it in their response to Helton. Bringing him the ball after every turnover they create. They want to perform at their best for him.And he is getting the most out of them. Hoping to see this continue and carry over into next season

B-

Mostly because I predicted a 7-5 season and Nebraska went 9-3.

Fired Bruce Read, the Unspecial Teams Coach that was paid $450,000 and produced crap. If had not been given Demornay Peirson EL, Sam Foltz, and Drew Brown, from the previous staff this coach would have been exposed in 2015.

Not developing the younger players at all. The 2016 team was loaded with senior starters, now Nebraska finds out if this was the correct coaching hire because they must plan on just flat out starting their recruits with zero experience and hoping for a winning season.

Mark Banker is an idiot defensive coordinator. Iowa was a running team, and he could not make a game plan to stop them. Uh, put nine or ten guys in the box to stuff the run. Dare them to throw.

B+ No matter how the playoffs come out, year ahead of schedule couldn't have asked for a better run...
