I would give Iowa a C-
What hurt the grade? - The losses to North Dakota State and Northwestern. Plus, the close game against Rutgers. If they lost to NDSU and then dominated NW and Rutgers, then it wouldn't be so bad. But Iowa was a horrible team during that time for no reason.
What helped the grade? - November. Iowa bounced back from getting dominated by Penn State by upsetting Michigan. Iowa's running game really picked up and they did a better job against the run game. They also had a 30-point win over Nebraska.
What else contributed to the grade? - Iowa came in expected to win the B1G West and easily get 10+ wins. So, failing to reach expectations hurt them. With who they struggled against and failing to reach expectations, they should be a D+, but how they did in November brings them to a C-. Now if they were expected to be an 8-win team, then I might consider them to be a C+.
