Still can't see how people don't think that Villanova isn't the best team in college basketball right now.

They will without a doubt be the #1 ranked team in the country on Monday.

But I do not think they are the best. They have one legitimate big man in their rotation who has zero offensive game. Small ball mismatches are nice, but that will come back to bite them in ass at some point. Again, if Spellman were eligible, it'd be a different story. Also, @ Purdue aside, the schedule has been a joke.

The 'best' team based on games played is Baylor ... if they can beat Xavier today.

The 'best' team eye test is still without a doubt Duke. Even if they only get 2 of those guys back, they'll be ridiculous.

Marquette still has a team with little room for error as exampled by the Pitt collapse(wojos adjustments suck) when 1.5 guys erased a 18 pt lead.

But damn this team can score. I'm expecting the physical BE to be a wake up call again but it will be nice having a team that's shooting ability could win a game any night.

Howard and Hauser are studs. We're better off with Hauser over Ellenson.

Probably gonna lose to Wisconsin but not a bad non con if they don't slip up elsewhere.

The Big East has been interesting so far to me. You have four teams who have performed fantastic this non conf. season(Creighton, Nova, Xavier and Butler). Then you have two teams who have performed adequately this non conf. season(Marquette, Seton Hall) Then two complete surprises. Georgetown with how bad they've been and Providence with how good they've been. I think this league has the potential to get 6 bids. And I think one of Marquette/Seton Hall/Providence aren't going to make it, barring a tournament title.

I stuck Marquette into the RPI forecast and it has them going 22-8 with an RPI of 23 and an SOS of 45. Obviously that would be more than enough to get them in. Interestingly enough that includes sweeps over Georgetown, Seton Hall and Providence. These numbers are based using Sagarin's Predictor, so Sagarin thinks there is some clear separation between the four to predict road victories in all three contests. I don't think Marquette will have a clean sweep of all three, but even if they slip up and were to finish something like 20-10, I still think that gets them in.

22-8 is bold lol. That's 12-6 with a Wisconsin win or 13-5 with loss.

Still think we end up on the outside unless the defense improves big time as that Pitt loss will loom large.

That said, offense is deadly. Cheatam and Johnson have a bad half? Fischer in foul trouble? No worries we can start 11/13 from 3. Johnson can flip the switch quickly. So many shooters and weapons make it a fun team to watch....but also one that falls in love with the 3.

Wish we played Xavier twice in January and not February. They look shaky so far and don't want them when they gel.

Fun team, better schedule for computer numbers. If Wojo learns to coach and the D improves maybe we make a run.

Just fun having a deep lineup that will allow me to tune into a game vs Nova and X etc.. thinking "we could win this".

I expect Marquette to have a good chance to win that game.

If you want to consider them in the 30-40 RPI range, they should be able to beat a team like Wisky at home. Home court means so much.

Gonna depend on how both teams shoot. Us and Wisky love the 3 ball if 1 team gets hot that's huge.

Downside is can Fischer guard Happ and not be in foul trouble? And who guards Hayes? Cohen is gone, his only real contribution in 2 years was locking down Hayes lol.

Should be good one. But not real confident.

I wonder what is the most likely loss on Nova's schedule. @ Creighton?

That's probably most likely.

But @ really any of the top 8 will be tough. Most of these teams are good at home and guard oriented. So if Nova is off(like today sans Hart) and any of these BE shooting teams are on. They will fall.

Nova is clearly the overall best tho

I agree.

All of the good Big East teams play small ball Warriors style.

Pretty similar to Notre Dame. Unfortunately for Notre Dame, their backcourt defense is pretty weak.

It's gonna be a fun year in the Big East.

@Seton Hall, @ Xavier, and @Georgetown are all later in the season and I think those are the worst matchups for us. So, there's a small chance we might be unbeaten for a bit.

Real shame about Spellman. I think you guys would be my odds on favorite again this year with him.

I still watch and feel the other top teams in country with size will be tough for ya.

Yea, I watch teams like UCLA and Indiana and imagine how their skilled and athletic bigs will destroy Reynolds and Jenkins.

But that is a long way away...

Marquette looking good so far against Wisky.

Seton Hall picks up a nice win for the conference yesterday in beating #16 South Carolina. Should be 10-2 heading into Big East play. 9-9 in conference should be enough for them to go dancing. Really think the Big East gets 6 teams in the tournament, with 7 being a possibility.

The top 6 teams in the Big East are now 53-7(Nova, Creighton, Butler, Xavier, Seton Hall, Providence)

The league is winning 59% of their games against other P5 leagues and the AAC.

No surprise why the conference is #1 in RPI.

South Carolina has a nice little team. Keep them in the back of your mind.

Before the season started, I thought Seton Hall would be the 2nd best team in the Big East. That seems to have been a bit of a stretch, but they are rounding in to shape.

6 is a possibility. 7 might be a bit of a stretch. I don't know if there's enough wins to go around. St. Johns won't be 2 automatic wins like last year and DePaul is a little better too.

Issac Copeland leaves G'town. They are essentially done for any kind of a bid.

Yeah it's going to take the top 7 teams going 21-0 against DePaul/St. John's and Gtown, which I doubt will happen. If Seton Hall and Providence can get to 9 wins in conference that should be enough. Marquette may need to get to 10.

I will say having looked at the non power conferences, AAC on down, there won't be a lot of multi-bid mid major leagues. Mtn West looks like a 1 bid league, AAC looks like at most a 2 bid league, A-10 looks like a 2/3 bid league. The P5 conferences(Big East included) will garner a lot of the at-larges this year I think.

I hope Marquette can make it in. If they can, that'd be 9 out of 10 teams getting into the tourney in a 4 year existence.

DePaul is hopeless.

Ironic because when the league started, Marquette came in with the most recent success.

That is ironic. The year before the new league was formed Georgetown was a #2 seed and Marquette was a #3 seed. Both have struggled(relative to what they were) since the inception of the new league, if they were at the level they were the previous 5 or so seasons, this league would hands down be the #1 league. All in all though the league appears to have stability and sustainability, which was something as a basketball fan, I was worried about. The additions of Xavier, Butler and Creighton were awesome choices by the league.
