For a long time, preseason polls in college basketball has been met with a "Seriously, who f---ing cares?" (As opposed to CFB preseason polls, which are only met with a "Who cares?").

That's where people like me step in: Forget about the "Naismith award" or preseason polls! No, instead I give you what really matters: Analysis and picks for the best games! Details coming soon...

Schedule for the 2016/17 season

Now with the season starting in 9 days, it's best if I give you my plans for the posts I'll make on this thread.

For the first 2 months, I'll be sifting through all the games to find you the best events and can't miss match-up's. (So if my posts look a little robotic, that's why.) And that includes full tournament schedules!

Then come January, we'll begin seeing which teams start improving as conference play heats up... all the way 'till late February, when the conference tournaments begin. (And yes, I'll share links to important news stories during the season as well.)
So hopefully, we'll have a good season and not have to worry about messes at Louisville, North Carolina, and SMU ever again. We can only hope, right?

We already have early season tournament threads, no need to duplicate them by taking up extra space.

Final Four Picks

My picks for the Final Four... Well, I think Kansas is overdue to return there. The obligatory ACC team will be Duke. Xavier will come out of the Big East, and for a wild card I think Purdue will survive a rough Big 10 to reach Phoenix.

Armed Forces Classic

Well, it's only 1 more day until we get started.

The first major event of the season comes to us from Hawaii, as we get 2 good match-ups to celebrate our military veterans.

First, there's Arizona vs. Michigan State (7:00 EST). It'll be fun to see Arizona's Allonzo Trier go up against all of those strong newbies from Michigan State. Thing is, can those newbies play well right off the bat?
Then we'll have Kansas vs. Indiana. On paper Kansas should roll, but Thomas Bryant should not be doubted. The key here will be if Bryant can get help from his teammates.

As for the rest of the games tomorrow, stay tuned!

And now, let's all say a prayer that this season's national title game will be as good as the last one...

11/11- Other games

Did anyone else stumble besides UConn? If they did, it'll be a "Whoopsie" loss. For a team, a "Whoopsie loss" means this loss may hurt their NCAA Tournament chances in the future.
So let's see what else happened yesterday:

Marquette over Vanderbilt 95-71
Ole Miss over Tennessee-Martin 86-83
Clemson over Georgia 74-64
Pittsburgh over Eastern Michigan 93-90 in 2-OT's
Chattanooga over Tennessee 82-69 (I heard Chattanooga was highly regarded in preseason, so this isn't a big "Whoopsie" loss for the Vols.)
Albany over Penn State 87-81 (Now this is a "Whoopsie" loss.)
Nicholls State over Boston College 79-73 (Whoopsie... Well, not really; we all thought BC was gonna struggle this season.)
Temple over La Salle 97-92 in OT
Jacksonville State over Tulsa 84-73
Northern Illinois over Indiana State 80-78 in OT
Stanford over Harvard 80-70

Maryland almost stumbled. Our freshmen are really talented, they showed that last night, but they need to clean up the turnovers. Otherwise Georgetown will crush us on Tuesday.

11/12 and 11/13 recap

The last 2 days were just filled with "warm-up" games for the power teams. So, did anything happen? Let's see...

Saturday:
Kent State over Cleveland State 79-74 in OT
Duke over Grand Canyon 96-61
Saint Joseph's over Toledo 77-76

Sunday:
North Carolina over Chattanooga 97-57
Colorado State over New Mexico State 64-61
Cable Car Classic Final: Tennessee State over Santa Clara 69-61
Cal State Fullerton over Portland State 106-100 in 2-OT's
Yale over Washington 98-90 (Whoopsie)

I guess Washington losing counts as "something" happening. But don't worry: The season REALLY begins tonight...

Champions Classic

It's time for ESPN's annual 24-hour CBB marathon! And finishing it off is the now-annual "Champions Classic", where ESPN puts 4 "Grade-A" CBB programs into Madison Square Garden (or Chicago or Indiana, depending on the year) and just let the madness happens.

At 7 P.M tomorrow, we start with Michigan State vs. Kentucky. Call me nuts, but dealing with Arizona right off the bat won't help the Spartans here.
And then in the nightcap we have Duke vs. Kansas. That's all I really have to say about that one. (I got Kansas winning this game, by the way.)

As for the other games in the marathon, that'll come later.
