Figured we could throw everything in here.

Big Sexy and RA in Atlanta next year, bummer.

Big Bart was definitely a good Met..and he'll be missed..but it pretty much ran it's course.

Hopefully Matt Harvey & Zack Wheeler will both be healthy & ready to step back into the mix.

You have to figure that's the case, which leaves Bartolo as the odd man out. Would have been nice to keep him around for insurance or as a trade chip but what can you do?

No doubt. If healthy a staff of Thor, DeGrom, Harvey, Matz and Wheeler is second to none in baseball. Sure up the bullpen now.

NEW YORK -- Second baseman Neil Walker has accepted a $17.2 million qualifying offer and will return to the New York Mets for 2017.

Walker confirmed he will be back with the Mets via Twitter. "Happy to say I'm back in Orange and Blue for 2017!! Let's go Mets! #unfinishedbusiness", Walker posted on Monday.

Walker underwent season-ending surgery on Sept. 8 to repair a herniated disk. That likely depressed his ability to get a multiyear contract, even though his lower-back woes are now expected to be behind him.

Mets 2B Walker accepts $17.2M qualifying offer

Eight other free agents did not accept the offers from their former teams by Monday's 5 p.m. EST deadline: outfielders Jose Bautista (Toronto), Ian Desmond (Texas), Dexter Fowler (Chicago Cubs) and Mark Trumbo(Baltimore), designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion (Toronto); closer Kenley Jansen (Los Angeles Dodgers); and third baseman Justin Turner (Dodgers).

I would love to have JTO back on the team...but I see him staying in LA (same with Jansen)
Encarnacion could be an interesting pick up.

YOOOOO!!!!

4 years $110 million, works for both sides.

Now trade Bruce for some relief help since he's a redundant player in this lineup and then use whatever savings we have on another reliever.

Greedy fan in me would love to see them get Fowler.

A few more pieces and good health and this is a real legit team.

yep....and in addition to now basically shopping Jay Bruce...they really don't have to waste any time /energy/money on Ryan Braun any longer.

I too like the Dexter Fowler possibility.

btw: just read the Brewers DFA'd Chris Carter.
He'd be a nice bat & pick up to play 1B for us.

From Espn/Jason Stark

Since Yoenis Céspedes' joined the Mets, they've averaged 4.6 runs per game with him playing and 4.0 runs per game when he doesn't. His 48 HR in that span are 3rd-most in the NL behind Nolan Arenado (58) and Kris Bryant (51). His hard-hit rate (20.9%) ranks first in the NL in that span.

Since Aug. 1, 2015 Yoenis Cespedes & Chris Carter both hit 48 home runs. One got $110 million today. The other learned he'll get non tendered

Good, see you later Jay.

Btw what's the deal with Wright, will he be back? Is Reyes staying at 3rd?

DW is expected to be back in time for spring training. As far as I know 3B is still his, with the possibility of taking over 1B if Duda or Loney aren't with the team. Jose is allegedly gonna be given lots of starts at 3B, SS, 2B & even some games in the OF...but we'll see how all that plays out..as this team has a knack for saying one thing and suddenly doing another.

My guess is Jose will be back at third by May. I hope things work out for Wright but I'd be surprised if he made it through the season.

Jose is gonna be a vital piece. He'll be in the lineup more times than not.
In addition to playing 3rd and giving DW some days off, he can do spot starts for Walker who's coming off back surgery..and for Cabrera who missed a bunch of games due to his bad knees.

Honestly, I'm more concerned with the overall health & durability of the pitching staff and bullpen than I am with that of the position players. Harvey, DeGrom & Matz had procedures done and are expected to be fully recovered and go to go... but you just never know, and Wheeler is still a big ?.
Colon is definitely gonna be missed. Sandy needs to fill his spot. I trust he will.

*We could also use an upgrade at catcher.....just sayin'.

I think we're pretty much all in agreement.

-Bullpen Help
-Upgrade Catcher
-Insurance Starter/Innings Eater

Those are 3 musts. Another bat would be great but that's not a priority at the moment.

I love Grandy and he's way more versatile than Bruce.
