Thoughts on Miles replacing Franklin. Miles is a outstanding coach and love for him to be our HC. Franklin can only recruit in my opinion and has shown he can't hang with the big boys. How much is that because of the sanctions and how much is on him?

1) No chance they could get Miles.
2) Miles just got fired for under-performing with a team that is more talented than ours, he's not gonna do any better than Franklin.

We would owe Franklin more than $12M (# remaining years X current year salary) in order to terminate him without cause and something tells me that "a better coach being available" isn't cause. We are stuck with Franklin for at LEAST one more year due to that buyout and even then I don't think we'd pay the $8M after next year to be rid of him. I hope he gave his agent a big fat bonus check for that stipulation in the contract because its crazy. On the flip side whoever approved those terms should be terminated at the University because it all but made his entire contract a guaranteed one.

This year I put the blame for PSU on-field performance as 75/25 Franklin and sanctions. He has three full recruiting classes on campus. This is the year that we should be seeing glimmers of hope. We still have 8 more games to see said glimmers, but I haven't seen them yet. I wouldn't care so much if we at least looked competitive on the field in the big games.

I don't buy into the Miles as an underperforming coach... His Win Percentage was 77%, Paterno was 75% so that to me looks fine by Penn State standards.

Jesus, enough with the Franklin out stuff. Its not happening. Do people even realize how big a job he's had to rebuild? Look at the roster he took over, look at the talent now in the Freshman and Sophomore classes, which are his first 2 full recruiting cycles. Give him a chance to develop HIS players...the guy was left with 1 serviceable lineman, an almost empty secondary and LB cupboard and had to bring in the skill guys you see now. Bottom line, he's not going anywhere because at least our AD is not as short sighted as the media or small section of fans who fan these flames and can see he's doing it the right way to set us up for sustained success and it is going to take some growing pains. Just because we have 85 players on roster now doesn't mean we have 85 players who are Penn State caliber talent and ready to play at this level. He could just say fuck it and get a win at theexpense of guys like Simmons or Menet, but he's doing the right thing for the program and holding them out unless its 100% necessary to burn their RS...but does that 8th or 9th win now mean more than 10 or 11th when these kids are juniors and seniors??

I mean do you really think he planned on being 7 starters down on defense by game 2 with a roster that was razor thin at those spots already? Yeah, I'd love to hear your gameplan to overcome that against a team like Michigan. By the way, would you have fired Dabo or Dantonio in season 3 of their current runs with Clemson and MSU when they were sub .500 and weren't facing anywhere near the shit Franklin had to overcome. People should be amazed we never had a losing season with practically 40 man rosters of semi serviceable players, not pissed we aren't winning the B1G yet.

Miles is not someone I would be remotely interested in. He's done less with more than almost anyone in the NCAA. Give him our roster from last 2 years we'd have been 4-5 win teams.

The only way I can see Franklin getting fired is if the wheels fall off and we lose every game the rest of the season.....which isn't going to happen.

No one is saying he doesn't have it rough or that because 7 D players got hurt that its on him but I am saying the decisions he has shown keeps me guessing on his coaching ability. My question to you LBU when do the excuses end with the sanctions?

I give him a full roster of kids he recruited...ie, the kids that are sophomores now are seniors...before I judge him. He has classes of kids he's had the full cycle as PSU coach to recruit. Those kids are starting to step into the lineup and get their experience, team will take some lumps but we'll be better for it going forward.

Sanctions are not an excuse, they are a reality. We are coming off the roughest years of the sanctions and he's pretty much doing a complete rebuild on the roster while not having a losing season.

Franklin isn't going anywhere anytime soon and Miles isn't headed to Happy Valley either. It would be stupid to do any of the previous on a number of levels especially when the Offense and Defense are beginning to gel. Miles got fired for a reason. Changing addresses isn't going to solve what ails him.

He secured another year with that win. HUGE WIN for him and the program.

Like I said before, another year was never in doubt. People need to trust the process, we are in good hands and this staff has done a hell of a job with everything they have had thrown at them this year injury wise. Brent Pry has been off the charts good as season progressed.

I'll just stand by my initial replies on this either way

1) I never said can him but wasn't impressed with his play calls/decision making
2) What has saved Franklin I feel the most is Moorhead. He has brought a excitement to Penn St.
3) Let Franklin recruit, Let Moorhead lead the offense, and Let Pry continue to grow that D and we are looking good.

Franklin made a moive that was very tough for him, but showed he puts the program first by doing so in firing his friend Donovan. He made a HR hire in moorhead and has let him do his thing and concentrated on being the CEO of the program. He also kept Pry from bolting for an HC job and our defense has actually been better under him than Shoop with a very young team that was hammered by injuries early Franklin surrounds himself with people who are very good at their job and with talent on his roster, recipe for a lot of success

He has surrounded himself with talent this year. Donovan firing was waaaay over due. Shoop I still miss, heck I miss Bradley (man psu did him wrong), I miss Larry Johnson but Pry has done a Amazing job with what he got.

Pry is better than Shoop. Shoop never adjusted and could never stop a mobile QB, he his team is underachieving now. LJ was good, but I love coach Chaos ....he's doen a great job as well with the Wild dogs....I like Scrap, but his D was boring compared to this style.

With his players finally filling teh roster and everyone buying in.....which wasn't the case last 2 years with some of players he inherited...things are looking bright

I am happy to eat all the crow I dished out. Limegrover is a much better line coach. He accomplished what I asked about the last two years, I know they were young and they still are but they are playing much better. Moorhead is light years ahead of the previous guy. Pry has the D playing well in all facets.

Yeah, Limegrover is forgotten man here. He has done great job. Can't wait to see what he does with Menet, Fries and big Sterling next year. Moorhead was juts a lights out hire

It appears Penn State is pushing hard to lock up Franklin with a big contract. What they really need to do is lock up Moorehead with a extension. Don't let that man leave for a HC position.
