How do you think the Tar Heels will fare after a promising 11-2 season?
Plenty of time to guess so don't rush it. Here is the schedule.

I see Miami, VT, Pitt and Georgia being really close games, and the Tar Heels winning at least 2/4. FSU will be the toughest game on the schedule by far. If we win that game somehow it would be huge. But I see us losing something like 34-21.

This year's team ceiling will depend on 5 X factors.

1. Gene Chizik returns. He dramatically improved the defense in year one. Can he make it even better in year 2? The pass defense last season was stellar but the run defense was sub par. If they can play above average, this year will be great for the Tar Heels.

2. Elijah Hood. He's the man at running back now. Can he become an All American caliber player this season? With stability on offense on the line and breaking in a new QB in Trabisky, he will be taking the load early on this season.

3. Mitch Trabisky. Can he become a smarter QB than Marquise Williams? Marquise broke many Tar Heel records, but he seemed to crumble in the most critical moments of the most critical games of his career. Trabisky doesn't have to be as much of a threat running with a deep backfield behind him led by Hood and others. He just needs to get to the ball to his experienced receivers in Switzer, Hollins, and Howard.

4. Des Lawrence. The leader of the secondary now was an elite ACC corner last season, and looks to be an elite All American corner this season. With most of the secondary returning, he leads the group in the off season with the ability to find the ball immediately in the air and attack it. He will face some very good offenses this season, especially run offenses, and will have to not only shut down the air traffic but improve on his perimeter tackling and containing the outside run.

5. Ryan Switzer. "Heel on Wheels" will be returning punts once again, and maybe even kickoffs to add to his already impressive historical feats. Maybe the best returner in the ACC since CJ Spiller can provide even more points for his team by becoming the go to guy on offense since the departure of Quinshad Davis. He is already a great slot receiver, but someone has to take that clutch responsibility once the tough, close games come around, which may be early this season vs. Georgia.

I see an optimistic 10-2 season with 12-0 being best case and 7-5 being worst case. I think FSU will be tough for 3 quarters but their talent overcomes ours in the 4th. Miami can surprise this season and possibly win the Coastal, even though it will be UNC's to lose.

Georgia will be tough but I think their QB costs them with early mistakes. VT won't have quite enough offense to take down the Tar Heels, and I believe Pitt will be a good game but our offense takes over in the 4th.

10-2 with losses to Miami and FSU, but still possible Coastal Division Champions.

@uncfan103 I think we got another 10 win season on the way... Somehow made it through the toughest stretch 3-1, with VT being somewhat of an iffy fluke game with the weather. Desperately need VT to drop another game though and us to win out. Might have another shot at Charlotte. With an even better team.

Definitely need VT to lose to Miami and/or Pitt. But, I'm just not sold on our team this year. I'm worried about the offensive line (really haven't been able to do a lot of running between the tackles) and our ability to stop the run. The NC State game looks tough after the way they were able to run the ball on Clemson. But, I definitely think we're capable of winning out, including if we were to play Clemson.

Also, side note, the ACC Championship game is in Orlando.
