Right, Baylor's OOC schedule is just chock full of great teams...So AD's will keep scheduling these big preseason marquee games to boost SOS and style points.
The only reason they will ever go to 8 is if the money for those additional four first round games is HUUUGGGGEEE. They don't do anything in CFB anymore unless there is additional television revenue to be had. What reason is there to go to 8?
If the regular season is so sacred, then there are a lot of schools that are not treating it as such. If they were treating it with the respect a sacred entity deserves, they wouldn't dishonor it by scheduling cream puffs in the regular season. Doing such is treating a portion of the regular season like a good whore...not something sacred.sacred

Too logical. It'll never happen.Redo the whole thing. Instead of the 2 current divisions (FBS & FCS) make 3 divisions. 80 teams in top division split in four 20 team conferences. Each conf splits that into two 10 team divisions. Play a round robin in each division for 9 games, schedule the other 3 however you want but at least 1 must be from the top division of the 80 teams other two can be from the next division down if you want.
Division Champs play for Conf Championship. 4 conf champs go to 4 team playoff utilizing the rotating bowls just like now. Keep the other bowls for the teams that don't make the playoff.
No subjectivity, no polls, etc. Wanna be the champ? Win it on the field, win your division and then be one of the 4 conf champs.

I know because my team was UT's million dollar whore this year. We got fucked good but were well payed for it. Isn't that the same as the world's oldest profession?
Interesting point. How many conference games you lost in the last 6 years? So let me see if I understand this right.
You have 8 spots available and you still need to have conference champions with an auto bid?
If your conference can't put it's champion into the top8 spots, then maybe there is a good reason for it.
11/12ths of the regular season may be "sacred" to true fans. And ADs make the schedules that the fan base tolerates. So don't hide behind the sanctity of the regular season being sacred if ALL of it isn't.Face palm^^^. The OP hypothetical was posed to us as fans which we'd rather have to watch. The regular season is "sacred" to us as fans, not to AD's who make schedules.
Well, we already have had 1 BCS title game rematch so I don't see why that would be a problem. I'm personally more into 6 teams then 8 just to not dilute it too much. Give top 2 a bye. I think 6 is the golden number.

So do I but I still see P5 teams scheduling FCS schools, so that tells me the regular season doesn't matter if FCS wins count...I will grant you some G5 schools ain't much better, a lot of them though have just made the jump to FBS level though.

Yea, their schedule really paid dividends in 2014 when they were battling OSU for the 4th spot didn't it? OSU freaking lost to VT, all Baylor had to do was play some P5 teams with a pulse and they couldn't gotten in. But yea, they played juggernauts in SMU, Northwestern State, and Buffalo. Good call sport!
