He ended up committing to South Florida. I'm thinking he must not have been very remarkable.

Totally different eras. Kids these days, especially top 75 kids, are huge divas. I think it's dumb that the kid would decommit based on this, but thats how kids are these days.
Yes the glass house is up at scUM. You were all over Meyer. Does the Harbs camp get a pass on this?I remember a similar incident last year at Ohio State. Urban Meyer couldn't remember a recruit's name in a face-to-face meeting. People who live in glass houses. . . , ya' know. Also, I didn't see Ohio State on his list of schools he taking a second look at.
It was also a thank you card for attending something he did not attend. I guess they didnt recognize him...It is pretty silly to send a thank you card with a misspelled name on it....but most people would get that and think some intern just had a typo. Other than saying, "Hey, can we send out some thank you letters" I don't think Harbaugh had anything to do with it.
Sounds like Clint didn't let it go considering he didn't go to Wisconsin and saved the letter for 20 years.Sure, but it's a simple mistake. A former player tweeted this out yesterday from Wisconsin back in the 90's when they were recruiting him:
BREAKING: Amber Alert issued for all SportsHoopla Michigan fans. Harbaugh has possibly raptured them to that place where nobody has it better than them. NOBODY.
I think he was actually pledged to Michigan at that time.Sounds like Clint didn't let it go considering he didn't go to Wisconsin and saved the letter for 20 years.

Exactly, he didn't "drop it" so he really isn't the best spokesperson for telling anyone to "drop it". It's like Bill Clinton telling guys not to sleep around on their wives.I think he was actually pledged to Michigan at that time.

Harbs put that staff together right?Well, sort of, since Harbaugh himself didn't make the mistake whereas Urban Meyer failed to recognize him in person.

Well yeah, I mean it's not like he was 100 odd current players to remember and another 75-100 recruits that he is recruiting to remember. The buck does stop with him as HC, IMO, but it's a mistake by the person in charge of the follow-up activities. However, Meyer himself made the mistake of not recognizing a player he had recruited.
I think he point was that he didn't make a big deal of it at the time.Exactly, he didn't "drop it" so he really isn't the best spokesperson for telling anyone to "drop it". It's like Bill Clinton telling guys not to sleep around on their wives.
But it was a big deal enough to keep the letter for 20 years. If he wasn't trying to get the guy to come back to Michigan, where Clint went to school, he wouldn't have said anything at all.I think he point was that he didn't make a big deal of it at the time.
Yup and he was wrong. No pass given. Harbs and his crew didnt even know this guy did not show up and sent him a thank you with his name spelled wrong. Maybe Harbs needs to stop hiring so many "qualified" parents of recruits. The buck does stop with him as HC, IMO, but it's a mistake by the person in charge of the follow-up activities. Mey, maybe. Maybe he just kept all offer letters because any offer letter is pretty cool and special. But it was a big deal enough to keep the letter for 20 years. If he wasn't trying to get the guy to come back to Michigan, where Clint went to school, he wouldn't have said anything at all.

I would say let that kid to to South Florida and find another to fill his shoes. There have been a couple commits in the several days that might be able to do that. Have you heard?Maybe. But what's Meyer going to do about HIS mistake?
