23!!? You mean 13ish? haha

First movie came out in 2001, and the 2nd in 2003.

But I agree. This long of a wait on a cult classic type movie is going to need a good showing. There are a lot of fans out there anxiously awaiting this movie so it better not disappoint!

Come on face! lol ... It's 23 days every 23 years.

Ask him ...he would know.

Cabin Fever (2016)

Didn't hear about this reboot until seeing its release on imdb. As you well know I am a Eli Roth fan and the original Cabin Fever from 2002 was one of my favorite films of his. But this remake failed miserably. It was about an hour or so into the film that I started to question whether this was Eli Roth's work or not. Looked up the details on the film and sure enough, some schmuck named Travis Z directed it. But Eli Roth was credited as one of the Executive Producers. So essentially Roth sold the rights to his movie and probably had nothing to do with the making of this film. It wasn't hard to figure that out on my own lol. I'm glad that this wasn't a theatrical release or a lot of people would have wasted their money. My guess is this was a buffer project for this Travis guy to try and make a name for himself, but he failed. This movie blows. The characters are annoying, and the acting is awful. Some of the characters were so cliché it made me laugh. The oddly misplaced blondie sheriff and the creepy gas station clerk, to name a few. The score was beyond stupid & absurdly loud during tense moments so I could hardly hear wtf anyone was saying. I had to turn down my sound system multiple times because it became too loud and annoyed the shit out of me. There were a lot of plot holes. And the climax, if you can even call it one, was predictable and overdue. There was ample amounts of gore, which was probably its one & only saving grace. That was about the only way it paid tribute to the original. Aside from that, there isn't much allure to this film. Chef will be happy to hear there is a handful of nude scenes to fill the BM meter.

Another reboot failure... 4/10

The Thaw (2009)

More of a sci-fi thriller than horror, but very entertaining! Even though this movie as a whole didn't really blow my socks off, the first thing that really struck me is how well done and thought out it all was. The writing & directing were great. The story was captivating & very realistic, and the progression held decent amounts of suspense to keep the viewer enthralled. The cinematography & cgi were excellent. The acting wasn't exceptional, but it was good. I didn't get annoyed with anyone so thats a big plus in my book. One thing that I found odd was the fact that the daughter, who had the least amount of scientific background (everyone was a biology understudy of some sort, except for her), appeared to make the smartest decisions all throughout the movie. That was an error on the writers' part, but maybe the producers cut out some necessary background to help bridge that gap. Oh well, it didn't detract much from the entire picture. The underlying message of the film was pretty interesting, and really added to the realism. Whether you believe in it or not! The movie also had some obvious holes, but overall it was well worth the watch. I'd recommend it to anyone that likes realistic thrillers.

Feeling itchy, anyone??? 7.5/10

Of course it's good that there are boobs, but unfortunately Cabin Fever is one of my faves as well. As soon as I saw your post I wondered why Eli Roth would remake it in the first place. I guess we have the answer. I'll pass.

@FaCe-LeE-uS

Im too lazy to go look, but did you see The Witch yet? Getting some pretty incredible reviews.
No, not yet! Was planning on it this weekend but the timing just wasn't right! Dammit! But I've been hearing great things about it. Not one of those over the top hollywood horrors, but rather a slow building creepy movie that makes you feel very uneasy. I'm very excited to see it! @SLY was talking about it a page back. He gave a good review!

I went to see it again after my initial post on it. It's really that good. I'm not religious at all, and that film put the guilty feeling of a god fearing puritan christian in me.

I won't say anymore though, I don't want to spoil anything.

Damn I must've been asleep at the wheel! Thanks for the bump! :suds:

I had a miserable night of horror movies yesterday. Tried watching "ABC's of Death" per recommendation from a family friend, and I really regret ever turning it on. Not even worth writing a review for, it was that bad. So bad that I couldn't even justify laughing about it.

Also watched "The Diabolical". Probably write one for that but it wasn't anything special.

Hollywood is remaking everything......totally lacking creativity nowadays.

And it seems that a lot of the remakes are of relatively 'recent' movies...within maybe a 10-12 year time span? The Spider-Man reboot still boggles my mind. :what:

Quite a few horror movies made from comics...not to mention this little cable show called "Walking Dead". ;)
