I only named coaches because I couldn't name players without being unfair. Just way too many to name, and to be honest: A single player has never won Alabama a national championship, it's always a team effort.

Houston has not had a lot of individually great football players, though I am lucky that former Cougars Riley Odoms, Simon Fletcher, Glenn Cadrez, and Alton Montgomery went on to play for my home town professional team, the Denver Broncos.

That said, Andre Ware, David Klingler, Robert Newhouse, Alois Blackwell, Wilson Whitley, and Lamar Lathon were pretty special college football players,

Few schools, on the other hand, can come up with a lineup that rivals former UH hoops stars: Elvin Hayes, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Clyde Drexler.

Throw in Carl Lewis, who is arguably the greatest track athlete of all time, along with fellow Olympian Leroy Burrell and his son Cameron, who just ran the fastest 60 meters in the history of tWorld, and Tier One Research University UH stands pretty tall.
