you do know how the ratings work right? only the top 25 count toward the ranking... over signing does nothing...

You oversigned.

And btw, your top5 class isn't final. The #14 recruit has not committed yet and if he picks Georgia(he's from Georgia) then Michigan will fall to #6 in the 247 composite.

So you better hope he chooses Alabama or Notre Dame if you want to maintain a "top5" class. I put "top5" because your average recruit ranking is not even top10.

When it comes to separating the top 10 classes, you are really splitting hairs. At that point it really comes down to needs and fit. As such a school could be taking a "lower ranked" recruit who better fits a position need and/or is a better systemic fit.

As for oversigning, sure, Michigan did oversign.......by 3. Given the wibbly-wobbly nature of recruiting, it behooves a school to hedge against a last minute flip. So this leads to a risk of small number of oversignatures. As long as the school is up front with the kids and that number is minimized, I don't have a problem with it, from any school. However.......Alabama has a history of large numbers of oversigned recruits, stretching what should be considered an honest hedge against flips.

Wow, the Harbs is every where.....Just pissing Saban and the rest of SEC off......I'm loving it.....About time the BIG went down south for talent......The only hard part is finding kids that can actually get admitted into AA....Tons of talent but I'm a bus driver down here in the south and let me tell you, the stuff Michigan is looking for is hard to find but the ones that qualify would love to get as far from home as possible because of how there living......Truth hurts sometimes but come ride my bus and you will get it.

The difference between recruits is minimal at best when your talking about one kid at .9267 and one at .8933. So a class rated at 10 may end up better than the top class. It's what they do with a kid once they get them on campus. Conklin will be a first round pick but was not a highly recruited kid out of high school. The only exception is when you get the best kid in the class. Peppers was 1-3 and has been a down right stud.

I like the fact Harbaugh pulled in some highly recruited players but as long as he gets a top 15 class UofM will be fine. I look at some of the 5 star kids and am glad they didn't pick UofM. Acting like Diva's and getting up and saying I plan on playing the next three years at.... really the next three years. Kid is delusional to assume he goes pro in 3 years. It may happen but don't be an asshat and think you go to a blue chip program and become the next big thing in 1 or 2 years.

My only concern with Harbaugh's national approach is he seems to be neglecting his own backyard in Michigan and Ohio. He may do better in 2017 with guys like People-Jones but it is something to watch.

Harbaugh has established some pipelines and that will pay huge later on New Jersey and Alabama. Once he gets a few kids in the program it will be easier to pull more later.

Spot on.

The only time it's a problem when you tell a kid right before signing they have to take a greyshirt. It's better to just say we don't have a scholarship available and give them a chance to go elsewhere. Not oh by the way you get a scholarship later on. That is unless the kid knew and excepted it going in.
