With some very high end 2017 kids coming to junior day and many offers out for this class, might as well get this one rolling.

You think This means no hunter Johnson?

He's still supposed to be in town this weekend and is no doubt a take, but they must've really liked this kid when he camped to offer and accept commit, knowing they were in very good standing with Johnson.

Looks like Johnson is indeed out. He wants to be only QB in class. I can see Kasim Hill being our 2nd QB and pretty soon. Also a few others could pop by end of summer

WOW this sucks. Hunter Johnson #1 QB for 2017 and we land #14 best that drives Johnson. I can say this about Johnson if you truly are the best QB in the nation then it doesn't matter where you go because you should earn the starting job. If the kid is afraid of competition then move on. He will find out in college and maybe the pros that good competition will only make you stronger and the team stronger. Hopefully he changes his mind but I wont hold my breath on it. 247sports has Kasim Hill as 50% lean towards us Syracuse and MSU also in the mix.

The best national guys on 24/7 and Fitz have hill as a STRONG PSU lean. He's very close to his teammate Ellison Jordan as well and you probably won't have to hold your breath long for him to be a Lion.

As for Johnson, he is #1 now, but will he stay #1?? Clifford has impressive film, is more athletic and is obviously not scared of competing or making any special demands. The staff had him at camp, saw him throw and offered, knowing they still had great shot at Jophnson....that tells me all I need to know on him. Look back at the #1 ranked QB over last 10 years and you won't be as upset over Johnson.

2002 Vince Young 30-2 in college (nfl starter)
2003 Kyle Wright Injuries derailed his college career
2004 Rheet Bomar caught in NCAA scandal after setting OK freshman passing record kicked off team (5th round pick of giants)
2005 Mark Sanchez 12-1 at usc 5th pick in nfl draft
2006 Matt Stafford #1 draft pick
2007 Jimmy Clausen 2nd round pick decent college career but never came close to hype
2008 Terrell Pryor we know about Pryor
2009 Matt Barkley would have been a top 10 pick but returned for senior year and injured shoulder
2010 Jake Heaps impressive freshman year broke freshman records but numerous transfers did him in
2011 Jeff Driskel 11-2 as a starter as a sophmore then suffered a leg fracture before junior year.
2012 Jameis Winston no intro or info required here lol
2013 Christian Hackenberg no intro needed

really not a bad list when taken as a whole for college level

Hack wasn't #1, he was behind Max Browne, Bomar beat out Morelli for #1 by.002 points in ratings we all know how that went, Claussen was a big fail for all his hype, Pryor, we all know about him, Heaps below average, Driscoll well below average, Wright never did anything. Its also no forgone conclussion Johnson will stay at #1 for 2 more years. Again, I trust the staff, they see all these kids in person and know what they want in a QB and know they had a very good shot with Johnson, but wanted Clifford anyhow....they obviously weren't intersted in meeting his demand of being only QB in class

Rivers is a STUD and good buddies with DAvid Adams. If we can reel him in, we have a beastly tandem at LB in this class, Avery Roberts also leaning our way bigtime

Ok, #DaPride16 is closed, time to focus on 17. a big junior day in a couple weeks should get things rolling. off to great start with a QB who is an even better fit for the new offense than the old...has great wheels, and a top LB, which will be a big need in this class.

We'll need to get 3-4 LB, several DL, always take a few OL, 2 WR, 1RB and several secondary players, then best athlete available to fill it out

New OC, and this kid is a pro-style QB. Is this what he wants. They screwed the pooch with Hack and supposedly we want dual threat QBs. Please explain, you are much closer to the situation than I am.

Watch Clifford's film, I think he fits Moorhead system better than Donovan. Kid makes a lot of plays with his legs and is strong runner. He throws well on rollouts to either side, scrambles from rush and makes plays downfield on scramble, runs a 4.6....definitely nto a prototype statue pocket passer QB. Actually more excited about him being on board since the move was made.

He is correctly classified as a pro style QB. What is nice as you mentioned is he has the ability to roll out and throw accurately. Good arm. He looks more mobile than Hack but still a drop back QB and not dual threat. That's fine as long as the offense is designed for that. Donovan tried to hard to fit Hack into an offense not suited for him. Of course inferior line play and so-so receivers didn't help. Clearly it worked a lot better when ARob and a few NFL caliber OLman were still there.

Big Junior Day coming up this weekend. Sounds Like Damion Barbor is ready to pop, could be a couple others. Solid weekend for junior day, State Patty's day and Lil Wayne concert that day

Ive noticed we have offered a LOT of players lately from all over the country. I need to make the 45min drive up to Bradenton, Florida and go to IMG Academy. So many amazing athletes there, that we and every college are recruiting.
