Chip Kelley took a lot of heat for unceremoniously trading away star RB LeSean McCoy.

I was on-board with the trade from the start for two reasons: 1.) I think McCoy is over-rated (but still darn good, don't get me wrong) because he lacks that 'between the tackles' element to his game, something which Kelly's offense is predicated on. 2.)Kiko Alonso looked like a star in the making in his rookie year before injury de-railed year two. If he re-gains that form than a 24 year old LB on the rise has way more long-term value than 27 year old RB who probably has two, maybe three seasons left at his current level of play. RBs just don't last that long when they're getting 250-300 carries per year.

Given all the stupid comments and even stupider actions coming out of the McCoy camp since the trade, I think it's clear that Kelly saw a chance to move a bad locker room influence who still had enough value to net a long-term starter in return, and he decided to pull the trigger. In 5 years Alonso will likely on of the best LBs in the league while McCoy will likely be out of the league, or at least pretty darn close to being finished.

Good move by the Eagles, imo.

I love the fact that whomever made the promo art was dumb enough to put the Bills logo on it.

He's a grown man so what he does is his own business but he continues to live up to his nickname. The twitter responses were hilarious.

I always cheered for the points that went up on the board when he took in into the endzone. I always cheered for the big chunks of yards he would eat up when he broke a nice run. But I stopped cheering for McCoy himself a long time ago. As a person, he's just a real shitbag, and that much has been obvious for a while. Not sad at all that he's gone. Let him be Buffalo's shitbag for a while.

This is why his ass is gone. Championship caliber players are working out now and not throwing ridiculous parties. Sure players have a personal life and many go out but you have to be smarter than this.

I have a feeling that the Bills are in for a rude awakening now with this deal. I can see Shady being a major distraction on the Bills. I was a huge fan of his, but it almost seems that his true colors are coming out. I think Chip played this one quite well trade wise.

Lol how about we wait until the pads go on to encourage opinions of the demise of shady.

We play the bills. Do we forget how desean ended our season and we had to remake the entire offense?

No one is saying that Shady is not a good running back. I think he is a very, very good RB but for what Chip wanted he does not fit the mold. Shady drove many of us crazy with his dancing and losing yards. Let's not forget he led the NFL by in rushes for a loss as well.

Desean ended our season? Too funny. Please tell me you are not dumb enough to say that Desean Jackson is the only reason the Eagles did not make the playoffs.

None of this off the field stuff will matter too much to the Bills if Shady is Shady on the field. Shady is an idiot, but has never been in trouble with the law or at risk of being suspended.

The Bills got themselves a top notch RB, and given that no one wants to go to Buffalo, this sort of trade is the way to make it happen. Shady will fill up that highlight reel and put fans in seats....something that is an issue in Buffalo. Arguably, Shady is the second coming of Barry Sanders....More highlight reel runs than just about any player in history.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Shady being inducted into the hall of fame in about ten years. But also, just like Sanders, I doubt there is a championship in the future for this guy. Running style is part of it, and Buffalo the other part.

We don't need to diminish Shady to appreciate the trade. At the end of the day, the Eagles got Kiko and Murray, and Matthews for about the same money as Shady. Quite a deal.

Pads or no pads, he's still going to be a shitbag who causes distractions. That seems to be the whole point of this thread. Which is a far cry from talking about his "demise."

I remember two missed field goals and a late interception from Sanchez (after crossing midfield) costing us that skins game. Sure, desean was a factor, but just one of many. Mainly it was our own mistakes and missed opportunities that killed us in that game. Weird how someone would choose to look at it from a 'desean beat us' point of view. :noidea:

it's funny, that people would take a wide stance on this issue.. .but then despite many failings in the SB would put it all on McNabb because of a throw or two. Strange how people see what they want to see.

I was at that game, and while it was a whole game loss - Desean was indeed a huge factor. He put the nail in the coffin in a game we had everything to play for, and just chit the bed. It was horrible to watch. No sense of meaning whatsoever, and it was like we didn't give a chit. I thought we deserved to lose the way we played that day. But I could not believe they would do it against Desean that way. He was clearly a big factor in that game.

3pt game.. and he caught 4 passes for 126 yards (over 30 yards per catch average) burning us deep constantly.

But yes, there were other factors like the 13 penalties for over 100 yards we committed to the skins 3 for only 15. We played like chit.. and Desean took us to the woodshed. 126 yards of 205 yards passing - or 61% of all the passing offense. Just saying, hate him or love him, give credit where credit is due.

So, if we win against the miserable Redskins last season, because we kept Djack, do we win a single playoff game?

No. We don't.

Some of you seem to struggle with this concept, but Kelly is trying to remake the chemistry of the Eagles. He concluded they were never going to win anything with Desean and Lesean (and others), and moved to change the complexion of the roster--not in a racial way, but in a way that had harder working, better guys in key positions. Look at Matthews and Agholor versus Djack. Are they better? Time will tell. Maybe not. But are they better teammates? Seems pretty clear they are.

I'm a huge Chip Kelly fan. Have been since he coached at Central High and the UNH. The guy is truly a football genius. He knows and understands what he wants to do and has always been successful when he's been allowed to do it his way with his players. I'm a Patriots fan first and an Eagles fan next. I can't wait to watch the eagles unfurl their wings this season.

When I start to think about the Eagles and Cowboys.......things start to twitch.

All we had to do was beat the redskins, pg. We've already been over this.

I agree. Both teams won in this shady trade. There wasn't a player in the whole league, besides a qb, they needed more than a first rate rb to pair with their defense. And we'll still have a running game and added a young lb.
