If OTT had fans, would they be happy with the complete lack of activity?

Nothing for them to do, really. Can only trade so many captains in consecutive years...

Hey guys, Ottawa still has two games left with Boston and the B's don't exactly look like world-beaters these dats (meanwhile, the Senators are red hot). I'd like to see the Sens get in the dance.

Considering what the market was for sellers, amazing for them not to sell off some pieces.

Only pieces I could've seen them ditch were, like, Phillips. Neil was already off the board, and none of their better players were going anywhere.

Didn't realize that they basically have no pending UFAs. Bunch of RFAs and Condra.

Oh Zing. Nothing says that it's springtime like Leaves fans chirping other teams about off-ice things.

I'll just get these out of the way:

Detroit is a shithole.

You WILL get carjacked in Buffalo.

Columbus doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs because FUCKING ORIGINAL SIX!!

Tavares and Stamkos and every other franchise player who played minor hockey or has a second cousin in Ontario WILL be a Leaf. And no, none of these players will want to play for their own SUCCESSFUL teams. And no again, NO SALARY CAP can stop this mass exodus.

Or we could hang onto a really shitty player/leader (Spezza/210) and make him captain for the next decade. Seems like a good plan.

Nice job of asset management by Brad Treliving, getting a 2nd and a 3rd round pick for Glencross was great. Although I wish things would have worked out with Sven, he just fell too far down the depth chart to crack the Flames lineup. A 2nd round pick in a deep 2015 draft is all right, in my opinion.

Agreed dash. The Flames are still in the thick of it and they got some good picks to keep stocking the cupboard in their "rebuild".

Really good job by Teliving, IMO.

You forgot about the jerseys on the ice! Or the waffles!

The only thing more certain than a Leaf fan chirping about off-ice things, is a Sens fan who takes them more personally than he should.

Not that I meant anything with that, but Spezza does have more points than anybody on his former club while playing on the second line most of the season on a non-playoff team.

Or a team who's fans don't abandon it after two bad years and force it into bankruptcy!

Yeah...but we didn't throw jerseys on the ice. And I was like 10, damnit. Seriously, I don't put my fanbase above pretty much any. We suck as a whole. Dangit I miss the igloo. CEC blows.

Word is now coming out that Sven requested a trade - Best of luck in Vancouver, Sven, you got what you wished for.

I guess I take stupidity personally. A team that draws 1000 fans/game less than the omniscient Leafs without anything like the corporate support apparently has no fans. It was a REALLY witty remark. Ya know what they say: it's funny because it is not even close to true!!!

At least it added a lot to the discussion.

I feel such shame for mocking it because you think I'm wrong for mocking asinine remarks. :pout:

Spezza is a talented player but he was, and is, a shitty leader. As evidenced by bailing on his team after one year as captain. It's also interesting to note that Dallas is a worse team this year than last, whereas Ottawa is on a similar pace while getting way younger than last year's team.

Back to the original Ottawa post though.

I, for one, am glad they did nothing. I would have liked even better to have seen Neil or Phillips moved for any kind of futures. They deserve to get to play for a contender and they don't really have a place on Ottawa as the team gets younger and faster.

My fear however was that this 5 game wining streak would have encouraged management into being buyers. I was dreading coming back to my computer and seeing something like Pageau for Stewart or Lazar for Maxime Talbot or some other idiotic move to try to desperately get into the playoffs.

Loving the way the young guys have developed this year and glad to see none of them move on.
