Why are you guys so high on Bradley? What is the upside?

He was never tied to anything at Penn St and they did not want to keep him after 30 years of very distinguished service....

Dana is not going anywhere anyways IMO

Penn state cleaned house. They did not want any ties to the Sandusky past. While we don't know what goes on behind the gates of Mylan pushkar, Bradley may be showing good coaching prowess . I felt at the start of the year that if the defense thrived with Bradley's help and the offense floundered, Bradley would be next in line for HC job.

I did not think Stewart would be demoted/canned after his 9-4 season. I thought Stewart deserved a better chance and Dana should also have another year so he can have a full recruit cycle.

We have seen great improvement this year, but I think all of us feel the team is better than theirnrecord shows. After alabama and Oklahoma, this team showed promise. Beating Baylor showed that we are for real. In the end, we beat one top team just like last year. Dana set expectations high early and failed to deliver.

That being said, Iowa state is a must win for Dana.

Luck did fire a coach after consecutive 9-4 seasons. I could see one scenario where luck pulls the trigger for Bradley. If Bradley gets some love from other HC job openings, and Luck really thinks he has what it takes, I would not be surprised. I always that part of the Bradley hire was for a just in case HC.

Luck could point to our November record, poor attendance for the KSU game. He has been quick to clean house in the past. If we lose to Iowa state next week, I'd bet HCDHs days will be up soon.

I am not even sure how to respond to this....

Because Wv couldn't fill for a Thursday night game when temps were with the wind chill below 15 degrees he's going to attribute that to the Coach?:omg:

Unless Dana chooses to leave Bradley is not going to be HC at Wv........

I am not advocating for a change, but Luck may be growing impatient.

The TCU game in the cold and rain was more uncomfortable than the KSU game. I have never seen that poor of attendance to play a ranked team at WVU.

Makes for good discussions though.

I am not sure I get why the K St attendance is a puzzle. It was a Thursday night game the week before everyone is already taking days off from work because of Turkey day. Taking another day off to travel may have simply not been an option for many fans.

And then there is simply the opponent - K St. I am afraid that, for many fans, K St simply is not seen as a rival. They are not on the radar as a "must see" or even "must beat" foe. I am not sure why, they are certainly a top 10 program right now. Snyder is a very good coach and has that team ready to play week after week. I just don't think WVU fans consider K St as a rival like they do TCU, Oklahoma or Texas. I hope it comes in time.

After the loss to TCU, fans jumped off the bandwagon...

there are probably 1/2 a dozen reasons the attendance was less than we should have expected.
Travel, opponent, Thursday night vs. a Sat, wagon jumping.... already burned my couch after the Baylor game. So many options.

Back to the thread - I think for me, this will be the season of the rebound.
Though it certainly could have/should have turned out with a much better result, I
will remember the resurgence of the Defense. They still need work - but they fought.

This season is the return of Don Nehlen. EG: Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda. I remember so many years that Nehlen was so close... What we should have been, what we could have been and what we would have been had we gotten just a few breaks. This is one of those years. It reminds me of so many Nehlen teams.

So simply, Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda.

For some reason I like this post....but in a different way...It took Dandy Don a few recruiting classes to build a foundation...I think that is what Dana has done in the last two years and with next years class looking very promising he has set the program up for long term success..

The days of winning 9-12 games a year IMHO are right around the corner..:suds:

:agree:

Also reminds me of the RR teams of 2006 and 2007 where a few fumbles and missed field goals kept us from having a chance at the BCS championship. Nehlen had some great teams in 93 and 98 but I never felt that those teams were better than Miami and we were fortunate to win. Watching the team this year, I felt that we had a better team than all except Bama and Oklahoma.

Few believed that our 175 lb QB would last the season and in my opinion, that was the difference between a conference championship and our current record. Nobody will be able to convince me that Trickett was not concussed in the TCU game. After that point, Clint became ineffective and made many bad decisions.

In many ways, I think we have returned to our past. Under Nehlen, WVU would rebuild every 4 years. Look at the results of 85-88, 90-93....

Back to the future...

I dont think that we will ever be able to recruit the talent like Oklahoma or Texas. Nehlen could not either, he built talent. Redshirt the 2 and 3 star guys, coach them up and by their senior year, they can be just as good as the 5 star new recruits. Note that we redshirted almost our entire class this year and have a good class coming in.

I can't wait until 2018.

Recruiting is very hard at schools like WVU, little homegrown talent and being in that second tier reputation. That is why it is important to have coaches who can coach up those two star guys. Coaching here is an entirely different job than at ND, OSU, UM, etc. It can be done, as we saw with Fraud, get the kids on the second round, if you will, and condition, work, and coach them. If we can get that coach and keep him, we can turn into a destination school, for both players and coaches. FSU, Miami, and quite a few others were lousy, but through good coaching, became good programs.

Well, FSU was coaching... Miami was through boosters. :D

Are recruiting is improving as far as rankings go... We are going to see a steady increase in talent level...we do offer a great product that a lot of east coast teams cannot, that along with the ACC becoming the most boring conf in football things are looking good on the recruiting trail.

With that thought about the ACC, and the demotion of the BE, do you see UMD and Rutgers as more competition for the more local recruits than they once were? I am really glad that there has been a realization that there is indeed talent in our old recruiting grounds of PA and OH.

Not only has the ACC taken a huge hit, but the B1G ain't far behind. There is a lot of really bad football being played around WVU.

WVU is the one bright light in the region, they play in one of the top conferences in the country, and play in a league playing great quality football.

Dana and his staff are proving they can develop players. They have their 2nd Biletnikoff finalist in the last 3 years.

Like Galloway recently tweeted… who wants to be next?

The conference that a team plays in is overrated as a way to judge a team, Ohio state would still be ohio state if they decided next week to join the MAC, and likely to keep them in the top tier we would see the MAC elevated to power status. There are good teams and bad in every league. As to Holgorsen developing talent, I have to disagree, this staff seems able to recruit, but do those players get better once they are here? Do players get better as the season goes on? Look at white, has he "developed" or has he regressed this year? He was unstoppable for several games, then was unable to adjust to change.
