In 1996 OU lost to 4-7 Tulsa, 4-7 TCU, 4-7 Kansas, and 5-6 Ok St. Do these games count against Bob Stoops because he is the current coach? NO!! He wasn't coaching at OU in 1996 (he happened to be too busy winning an NC at Florida!). Just like Stoops can't claim to have beaten SEC teams when he beat Missouri and Texas A&M when they were in the Big 12.

The facts are that Bob is only 4-4 vs SEC teams.

Can't deny Stoops is a damn good coach. Would rather have a few titles in that tenure than winning records over oppoents though.

Agree, OU had the teams to win more NC's during that period, the coaches just didn't prepare them well enough. Even though the stats were lop sided in the LSU lose OU was still just a couple of plays away from winning that one, same with the Fla. game.

He played Mississippi in his very first year in the Independence Bowl after years of OU having losing seasons. Played Lsu in New Orleans and Florida in Florida. All 3 of the games the Sooners had a chance to win at the end.
