BIG FAT F

Might be time for him to go.

Just give the title to the Tigers. Its not even fair and they gave up nobody for Price.

I give these moves a F. just a couple of days ago Cashman said he has a lot of work to do to fix this team…..today he picks up 2 garbage players and 1 player we are stuck with for 2 years at around 11 mill a year(Prado). Oh yeah he doesn't have a position. He is a Utility player.

I like the McCarthy and Headley move. I was talking about today.

Seems like the Tigers only traded Jackson so Price could wear his number lol.

Don't forget that we can acquire some guys in the waiver deadline which expires August 31st I believe.

I would give Cashman a C grade for these moves. It really doesn't make the team much better.

If you plan on playing Prado in RF, that would be a bad move. He doesn't have the arm or range to play RF for a consistent amount of time.

To add on, for the most part, these were buy low while taking on salary moves that Cashman made. There is little risk involved.

I disagree, there is risk. Prado is making 11 million until 2016. We are stuck with him for 2 years. Drew is on a 1 year deal so no risk there.

Stephen Drew's actually looked a lot more like 2013 Stephen Drew. Which is a good thing. Drew's batted .245/.351/.469 since the ASB and he batted .206/.325/.426 in July. Despite the BA hovering around the Mendoza line last month, he managed pretty decent OBP/SLG stats (especially for a SS). Last year, Drew batted .253/.333/.443 with a 111 OPS+.

With the Red Sox' luck, Drew will OPS around 1.000 with the Yankees.

Can't blame Cash.....At least he tried

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-bi...192616217.html

Not only did Cashman call his Rays counterpart, Andrew Friedman, about trading for Price, he also dialed up the Red Sox's Ben Cherington to discuss Jon Lester and John Lackey. Those conversations didn't get very far.
Both GMs told Cashman they had been given approval by ownership to trade their elite pitchers anywhere in the majors -- except to the Yankees.

Cashman expected as much from the Red Sox. Who do you think came up with the term "Evil Empire" anyway? He held out a sliver of hope on Price, but Friedman soon gave him the thumbs-down. So the Yankees, the contender that most wanted an ace-type starter, got shut out while the two teams that least needed one — the Tigers and A's — wound up with Price and Lester, respectively.

If the ellsbury ( ok), McCann and Beltran grades were better at this point of the season, then all this scratching around for offense would not be an issue.
