My main safe is just a regular ol Liberty. It's beside my bed so I just open the door on it before I go to sleep so I can get what I need quickly if it was to come to it. I just lay my CCW on my headboard (bookshelf type) at night. It goes everywhere I do so if I'm not in the bed it's on me.

I gave all my rifles and shotguns to my brother up north. I keep a .45 in the office and my handguns at home are stowed safely and even disassembled a bit. But my old boat gun, that stainless SW 9mm needs to be handy in case of a break-in or whatever. But with little kids now, it has to stay locked-up in the master bedroom upstairs.

The only biometric I see are on laptops and nobody uses them. With my luck the battery would die the day before a biker gang broke down the front door.

B4FL has to chime in. The dude seems to have the simplest yet effective access for the owner. I think it requires a bio...like a hand print or something.

If I break down and get one....what he described would be on my list.

I have 4 lol

Main safe is this the signature 50. Ya it is a lot of money but worth it. All of my Rifles and most of my handguns are in there. It is lag bolted to concrete. Plus it weighs like 1000 pounds anyways.

Cabela's Signature Series Premium Gun Safes by Liberty : Cabela's

2nd one is just a cabinet and it has all of my ammo in it. I actually build a shelf system and installed it inside so everything is nice and tidy

Stack-On 14-Gun Security Cabinet : Cabela's

I have 2 of these. One on counter by front door and one on nightstand. You have to set a reminder to change the batteries though. I generally change them out every 3 months.

GunVault Biometric Safe : Cabela's

Finger print. Only people who can access the bio safes are me and wife both with index finger. It is also relatively quiet when it is opened.

I appreciate that...just ordered this one: GunVault Biometric Safe : Cabela's

because it's big enough to hold some coins and other shit I'd like in there as well.

The last home invasion in my town was last Nevuary so I just use a standard steel cabinet.

It is cool to see the innovation in this area though. If I lived in the city, I might consider faster access.

I had two buddies get wiped out on different burglaries last weekend. I've been telling them for years to get a gun safe but they didn't. Now we got local thugs carrying about 70 of their guns. I have a large Cannon TS5490DLX and it holds all my guns and all my valuables. Mine is a lot bigger than I need but I should never out grow it. Plus it has a Cat 5 pass through and this allows me to run my security camera dvr inside it also ($250 wifi/iphone compatible from SAMs Club). If I do get burglarized, I should have excellent video to give to the investigators.

Here's a stock photo of it

I looked at one very similar the other day at Tractor Supply, pretty badass and not as expensive as I was expecting either. It's on my list of "wood".

Time it takes you to "spin" a dial, your dead...

just sayin...

Which is why my CCW is never out of my reach (headboard at night) and I open the safe by my bed before I go to sleep. The safe is to keep that short person that lives in my house and petty thieves when we're away.

Check into one of these. They have models that have GPS trackers, they have multiple ways to access, and they can even send you an email or text if the safe is moved in anyway. You can get a cable to attach it to a cabinet or the floor in you room, and have another one in the car. Its bad ass.

That's why I keep my Sig in magnetized holster on the side of my safe and my PS90 in an amazing hidden, sliding and concealed rack that I built myself.

Depends. How concerned with safety are you? Is the firearm your ONLY precaution taken? Your only means of safety? Mine is a last resort. Hopefully my alarm system or dog will alert me to something being amiss and afford me the time to spin that dial and retrieve my firearm. At night anyway. If I'm wearing pants I'm wearing my firearm.

I want to put one up high in the master closet...on the side of a cabinet so it's easy and fast to find yet still hard to find behind my suit coats.

What'd you dudes get?

I was thinking of this one and would appreciate any feedback. I think I'd prefer the biometric fingerprint thingy on this type instead of the combination thingy.

GunVault Speedvault Biometric Fingerprint Gun Safe SVB500 Biometric Safe | eBay

GunVault Gun Storage Safe Speedvault Series Biometric or Digital Keypad | eBay

after selling gun safes for a couple of years, this is a great quick safe. 1 issue, biometrics. Biometrics are a great concept but the early models have a hard time reading the finger unless its exactly in the correct position. I would rather practice a code a bunch of times and be quick with an intruder in the house than get flustered, sweaty with a biometric reader.

I personally like the coded ones over the biometric and actually talked many people into avoiding the biometrics. now that was a couple of years ago, the biometrics seem to be improving every year.
